The second main scenario quest ended well for Clive in Final Fantasy 16. He successfully completed his mission and has earned a great deal of respect after slaying the goblins and a morbol. Unfortunately for Clive, this all goes down the drain when things take a turn for the worst during the third main scenario quest "Flight of the Fledgling".

Since this is still considered part of the prologue, there isn't a lot for Final Fantasy 16 players to explore or find during this third mission. But it does help set the scene for the rest of the game while also providing a tutorial for Eikon fights.

Follow Wade

Instead of controlling Clive, Final Fantasy 16 players will instead begin this main scenario quest as Joshua. Joshua is able to fight, but he has a different set of abilities than Clive. Since Joshua is a temporary playable character, players cannot use Ability Points or change equipment. Follow Wade down the stairs and open the door.

Beyond the door is a single enemy. Joshua has access to significantly stronger magic and he can use Curaga. Simply use magic on the enemy and Wade will help finish them off. Go through the door in the kitchen to encounter two more enemies. After dealing with them, go through the door and keep moving forward to reach another door where one enemy is waiting. In the next room approach Tyler to trigger a cutscene.

Hold the Enemy Off

Once the cutscene is over, players will resume playing as Clive. Go through the door and grab the Stoneskin Tonic that is near the barrel. In the next room, Final Fantasy 16 players will encounter a group of enemies. One of the enemies is a caster, so players should be prepared to deal with them first. Leave the mess hall and pick up the two items in the next room before going through the door.

How to Beat Knight of the Binding Dawn

Out in the courtyard, players will encounter another group of enemies. They aren't too difficult to defeat, but players are not done when that group of enemies are slain. Moments later, a dragoon will jump down, prompting a Cinematic Evasion. Afterward, the fight against the Knight of the Binding Dawn will begin. Unlike the previous boss fight, the Knight of the Binding Dawn is a swift foe and attacks quickly.

Don't get too focused on hitting the boss with attack after attack, as this can make it harder to dodge his attacks. Periodically, the Knight of the Binding Dawn will use Jump. Look for the blue spot on the ground and move away from it to avoid getting hit. Deplete his Will Gauge and stagger him when possible to do more damage.

At roughly 50% health, players will have the opportunity to perform a Cinematic Strike. Use this opportunity to damage the boss while he is staggered. As the boss reaches 20% or less health, Jump is replaced with Double Jump. This is the same attack as Jump, but the main difference is that he will do a second Jump attack after the first one lands. Keep damaging him while dodging his Double Jump attack, and players will be able to claim victory against the Knight of the Binding Dawn.

How to Beat Ifrit

Even after the Knight of the Binding Dawn falls, Final Fantasy 16 players are not done with this quest yet. After a series of cutscenes, players will get their first taste of Eikon Battles. In this first Eikon boss fight, players will control Phoenix. The goal of this very cinematic fight is to defeat the Eikon of Fire, Ifrit.

During this boss fight, players only have two things they can do. The first is attacking with the 'Triangle' button. Unlike the opening of Final Fantasy 16, players will have to use the left stick to aim their attacks. In addition, players can evade attacks with 'R1'. Hold down the 'Triangle' button and keep the cursor on Ifrit to damage him.

When Ifrit begins to glow brightly, he is about to charge at players. Use 'R1' at the right time to dodge the attack. Roughly around 80% there will be a Cinematic Evasion. Instead of staggering the boss, the Cinematic Evasion will instead do a significant amount of damage to the boss. Keep aiming at the boss and shooting attacks at it. Another Cinematic Evasion can be triggered around 60% as well. Be ready to do a Cinematic Strike at 40% health.

At 10% or less health, Ifrit will begin to cast Hellfire. Bring him down to zero before the countdown finishes. Even though Ifrit casts Hellfire anyway, players will have successfully beaten him and completed "Flight of the Fledgling".
