Final Fantasy 16 players have found themselves having to comfort their dogs after they express jealousy over Torgal. It's hard to blame them, considering Torgal can even be petted just like they can.

Since its very recent release, Final Fantasy 16 has been praised for numerous things including its story, involving the journeys of Clive Rosfield and the rest of his party amid an ongoing international feud as they all risk destruction at the hands of the Blight. One of the highlights of the cast is Clive's loyal husky, Torgal, who can provide multiple forms of assistance to him and has quickly gained a following among fans of the franchise for not only his abilities, but also for his sheer cuteness.

A Redditor named Luthalis shared a nineteen-second clip of their own rottweiler reacting to gameplay footage of Clive petting Torgal on the nearby TV, something that can be done for a trophy. No context was given behind the gameplay, but the video shows Clive and Torgal somewhere out in a grassy portion of Valisthea with no obvious goals in mind. Below the screen, the dog is seen growling and even briefly jumping on its hind legs as it sees the affectionate gesture, clearly upset that another dog in the vicinity other than it is getting some love.

Many in the comments found the scene adorable and shared similar stories involving their own dogs while they played Final Fantasy 16, while some noted that their dogs didn't have the same reaction despite behaving like the OP's dog in other scenarios. A few even compared it to how their cats reacted to Stray's gameplay. One user in particular noted that they too would have expressed jealousy if they had to compete with a dog who had Torgal's upgradable battle moveset and intelligence. There were also notable numbers of users who insisted that Luthalis take some time to pet their dog to ease its nerves.

It's always interesting to see how aspects of video games can cross over into real life, with characters and stories being based on real people and events, in-game scenarios leaving a visible mark on viewers, and even the usage of real animals as inspiration for in-game ones. If anything, it's just another example of the connection between life and art, and seeing video games embrace that more and more in recent years should make for some impactful and touching memories for gamers of all walks of life moving forward.

Final Fantasy 16 is available exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
