Spoilers for the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 are already hitting the internet less than a week before the game’s official launch. It has been almost seven years since the last mainline Final Fantasy game, and players are eagerly awaiting the next installment in the legendary JRPG franchise. A demo for Final Fantasy 16 is already available to download, allowing these players to get a small taste of the impending adventure before it is released in full on June 22.However, some fans are getting the full Final Fantasy 16 experience early, as physical copies of the game have been spotted as early as last week. Naturally, players who have purchased these early copies have accessed Final Fantasy 16’s entire plot, which tells the story of a fallen noble named Clive Rosfield who seeks vengeance against the forces that attacked his kingdom using the power of the ancient Eikons. Unfortunately, this also means that Final Fantasy 16 spoilers are being leaked across the internet - much to the dismay of those who want to be surprised by the game’s dark storyline.RELATED: Former Devil May Cry Dev Praises Final Fantasy 16, Calls Game His ‘Personal Masterpiece’The Final Fantasy 16 development team recently addressed these spoilers on the official Final Fantasy 16 Twitter account. In this post, they advise the players who have picked up a physical copy of the game not to share any aspects of it ahead of launch - such as screenshots, gameplay videos, or livestreams. The post also states that an investigation into how the copies were leaked before launch is being carried out, and that Square Enix is taking efforts to limit the number of spoilers being spread online before the game’s launch on Thursday.

So far, the nearly two-hour Final Fantasy 16 demo has been met with positive reviews for its high-octane combat and gripping medieval plotline. As mentioned before, Final Fantasy 16 is said to be much darker and more complex than those of past entries, with the development team seemingly drawing inspiration from grittier fantasy media like Game of Thrones to tell the story of a war-torn world named Valisthea. Final Fantasy 16’s story is apparently so complicated that the developers added a new Active Time Lore gameplay mechanic to help players keep track of the game’s many events and supporting characters.

Although Final Fantasy 16 is still a few days away from its full release, many of the game's plot points are being leaked online. Square Enix has advised players who have accessed an early copy not to share such information, but not everyone will abide by this. Hence, any fans who want to experience Final Fantasy 16 spoiler-free will probably want to stay clear of any forum discussions about the game until it officially launches this Thursday.

Final Fantasy 16 launches June 22nd, 2023, on the PlayStation 5.
