A few Final Fantasy 16 gamers have recently complained that their PS5s were overheating while playing boss fights in the newly released Square Enix RPG. Final Fantasy 16 has many excellent boss fights, so this is a pretty bad issue for fans who were eager to play the new title and are now afraid that their consoles may get too hot during the most intensive parts of the gameplay.Final Fantasy 16 was one of the most eagerly awaited RPGs of 2023. Ever since the release of Final Fantasy 15 in 2016, most gamers were pretty curious to see what the next installment of the franchise would be, as it promised to have a very dark story and gameplay that would be more focused on action than previous installments. The result is that Final Fantasy 16 looks nothing like FF15, and this is pretty good news for fans who were eager to try out a completely different experience.RELATED: Final Fantasy 16 Devs Reveal Their Top 3 Favorite Final Fantasy GamesSoon after the launch, however, many gamers started to notice that their PS5s were overheating during the most intense fights in Final Fantasy 16. It’s not hard to find examples of unhappy players on social media. ItsMajesticMe, for instance, affirmed that they had their console since January 2021 and always clean it. They never had a single problem with overheating before trying out Square Enix’s latest release, but received warnings about the dangerous problem when playing. UrAverageJoe had quite a similar story, as their PS5 turned off randomly while playing the game. According to them, they didn’t even get a notice that the console was overheating before it shut down.

These are not the only recent cases of overheating in Sony consoles, unfortunately. Ever since its launch, there have been other cases of PS5s getting dangerously hot, including a rather high-profile case when a PS5 overheated at Best Buy while it was on display. These are fairly rare cases, though, and it’s possible that new patches will help FF16 to get enhanced performance on Sony’s console, allowing gamers to have a better experience with it.

Despite these issues with overheating, Final Fantasy 16 got pretty positive reviews. Critics have praised the game's worldbuilding, its dark and gritty story, and the fast-paced gameplay that resembles character-action games. On Metacritic, it’s currently sitting at a score of 88 with 108 reviews, most of them positive.

Final Fantasy 16 is available for PS5.
