A new trailer highlights how Final Fantasy 16 takes advantage of the PlayStation 5 to fully immerse players in its dark fantasy world. The next installment of Square Enix’s legendary JRPG franchise will finally launch on June 22, with a two-hour demo now available for eager fans to try out ahead of time. Final Fantasy 16 is set in the war-torn world of Valisthea, where a young royal named Clive Rosfield goes on a quest to avenge his fallen kingdom using the power of the Eikons, which are Final Fantasy 16’s version of the series’ classic Summons.

Thanks to the technology offered by the current console generation, Final Fantasy 16 looks to be much bigger and bolder than previous entries in the long-running series. In fact, Final Fantasy 16 will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5, though are reports that Square Enix is planning to port the game to PC at some point. Previous Final Fantasy 16 trailers have given fans a glimpse at its impressive PS5-powered visuals as massive Eikons wage epic battles across the lands and skies of Valisthea.

Stunning graphical horsepower isn’t the only way that Final Fantasy 16 makes its experience more immersive on PlayStation 5, as the latest trailer for the game showcases several of its next-gen features. These include lighting-fast loading speeds to help players get into the action quicker, use of the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers to give players the feel of a Chocobo racing across the land, 3D audio to enhance the sounds of battle thanks to the PS5’s Pulse 3D headset, and haptic feedback that simulates the rumble of Final Fantasy 16’s Eikon battles.

So far, Final Fantasy 16 has been met with a mixed reception from players weary of the game’s radical departure from the tried-and-true turn-based formula of past Final Fantasy games and disappointed in its digital deluxe edition. Likewise, Square Enix itself recently expressed concern over Final Fantasy 16’s seemingly sluggish pre-order sales. However, the recently-released Final Fantasy 16 demo has drummed up excitement for the game thanks to its solid gameplay and pulse-pounding introduction to the world of Valisthea.

Final Fantasy 16 seems to take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 hardware to bring this world to life as few previous entries could with features like haptic feedback and 3D audio. These features will allow players to feel and hear the spectacle of Final Fantasy 16 when it finally launches next week, and fans can get a small sample of this in the game’s free demo right now.

Final Fantasy 16 will release on June 22 for PS5.
