Final Fantasy 16 allows players to craft a variety of pieces of gear for Clive to use during his journey. This includes weapons, belts, and bracers, which modify his offensive and defensive stats. While many of the necessary materials will be acquired just by playing through the story and fighting enemies, some of the rarer materials require a bit of searching and/or the defeat of powerful foes.

One material players might have some trouble tracking down in Final Fantasy 16 is called Gelatinous Mass. This is used in the crafting recipe for Drakeslayer's Bracelets and is only dropped by a single enemy in the entire game. Players will need to go hunting for the Flan Prince in order to grab this material.

How to Get Gelatinous Mass in Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 16_Flan Prince

Players hoping to track down Gelatinous Mass are going to need to take on the hunt for the Flan Prince, found west of Amber at Hawk's Cry Cliff in Rosaria. It's specifically found at the lowest part of the cliff, directly to the west of Amber.

This nasty foe has access to an array of magical attacks, using Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Tornado, and Quake, along with electrical spheres to pester the player from all ranges.

It can also propel itself toward Clive from a distance and perform a chain slam with giant hands that deal incredible damage. Once it hits half-health, it will begin twincasting, using two of its spells at a time to cause more chaos on the battlefield.

The Flan Prince tends to follow any spell by leaping towards Clive, so dodge that leap and hit it hard to chip away and stagger it, then unload on it with Eikonic attacks to drain its health. There's also a window to punish the Flan Prince after dodging its spin attack and after it finishes its slamming attack. It will only perform its overhead slamming combo after losing half of its health, so players should watch for it winding up that attack and dodge all three slams before trying to counterattack.

Once the Flan Prince is dead, players will receive the Gelatinous Mass and other rewards.

Final Fantasy 16: Blacksmith's Blues Side Quest Guide

The Gelatinous Mass is only used in one crafting recipe, this being the recipe for the Drakeslayer's Bracelets. This also requires a Dragon Talon, 20 Briar Clam Shells, and 1 Scarletite. These are the third-best Vambraces in the entire game and well worth the trouble of tracking down the Flan Prince to craft them. The recipe is unlocked after completing Blacksmith's Blues.
