Square Enix has revealed the contents of the Final Fantasy 16 collector’s edition. Final Fantasy 16 received a new trailer at The Game Awards that gave players more information about its story while showing off its action-packed gameplay. It also confirmed that FF16 will launch on June 22, 2023.Many AAA video games get special collector’s editions that offer all sorts of extra goodies and bonuses. These collector’s editions often come with a figurine of the main character, a steelbook case, some in-game items, and other pieces of memorabilia. As an example, the collector’s edition of Resident Evil 4 comes with a figurine of Leon S. Kennedy, a digital soundtrack, an artbook, and various other physical and digital items. Square Enix has now detailed the contents of all the editions of Final Fantasy 16 that will be available.The Final Fantasy 16 collector’s edition comes in a special box and contains a Clive Rosfield steelbook case, Metal Eikon pin collection, the full game with a reversible cover, and a cloth map of Valisthea, the setting of Final Fantasy 16. Most notably, it features a figurine depicting a fight between Phoenix and Ifrit. Square Enix has confirmed that pre-orders for the collector's edition will start on Monday, December 12 at 6 PM PST. Fans should note that collector’s edition of FF16 will be available exclusively on the Square Enix store.
On the other hand, gamers can pre-order the standard and deluxe editions of Final Fantasy 16 right now. The details of their contents were leaked before The Game Awards, and they appear to match the official versions. Fans will get digital versions of a mini artbook and a mini soundtrack in the deluxe edition, alongside pre-order bonuses that increase the amount of XP and Gil players earn. Square Enix will also release a physical deluxe edition of Final Fantasy 16 that comes with the above-mentioned steelbook case and a cloth map of Valisthea.
Overall, the collector’s and deluxe editions of Final Fantasy 16 appear fairly standard when compared to other AAA games. The price for the collector’s edition doesn't seem to have been announced yet, so it’ll be interesting to see what Square Enix charges when pre-orders open on December 12.
Outside of Final Fantasy 16, The Game Awards featured a ton of exciting announcements and reveals including Death Stranding 2, Horizon Forbidden West DLC, Hades 2, and more. Elden Ring won the award for the best game of 2022, with God of War Ragnarok winning in various other categories like best narrative and music.
Final Fantasy 16 will release on June 22, 2023, for PS5.
