16 Cold Snap

Cold Snap is an ability belonging to the Shiva Eikon tree and is very similar to Phoenix Shift, but it has some limitations and advantages that make it stand out. When using the Shiva Eikon tree, Cold Snap is a dodge mechanic that allows Clive to slide in any direction away from harm.

Additionally, players can attack with Cold Snap and inflict freeze on targets. Cold Snap is a great tool for extending combos and crowd-controlling multiple enemies at a time.

15 Lightning Rod

lightning rod final fantasy 16

The power of Ramuh is a highly overlooked well of damage as it becomes overshadowed quickly while progressing through Final Fantasy 16's story. The Ramuh Eikon tree is a great source of stackable damage, with Lightning Rod being one of the best to cram as much damage as possible in a string of abilities.

Lighting Rod sets a deployable sphere that, when struck, emits harmful shocks to enemies nearby; this ability can be used in tandem with abilities like Ignition, Gigaflare, or Heavens Cloud.

14 Satellite

Final Fantasy 16

The Bahamut Eikon tree has several hard-hitting abilities that are great for overwhelming enemies that have been staggered. However, there are a few abilities that are also extremely useful for filling a target's stagger bar and making them vulnerable.

One of those abilities is Satellite, which summons two familiars that fire projectiles at enemies that Clive targets. When fully upgraded, this ability is great for peppering targets and synergizing with combos to fill up a target's stagger bar extremely fast.

13 Windup

final fantasy 16 titan windup

The Titan Eikon tree is one of the best and strongest trees in Final Fantasy 16, with a long list of abilities that are incredibly useful throughout the entire game. The Windup ability is an incredibly powerful giant punch that allows Clive to pierce through waves of enemies depending on the charge range. Windup is a great ability for clearing the field of low-rank enemies or for topping off a combo on a staggered enemy with some massive damage.

With the Titan Eikon being one of the strongest bosses in FF16, many of its abilities have secondary effects. Charging Windup into the red and releasing triggers a secondary effect that leads to a much longer strike that grinds enemies to dust.

12 Upheaval

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Upheaval is an ability belonging to the Titan Eikon tree. Once players acquire this tree after defeating Hugo, they will possess massive strength and control over the earth beneath them.

When activated, Upheaval slams both behemoth fists into the ground knocking enemies high and inflicting serious damage. This ability pairs well with other Eikon abilities, such as Wicked Wheel, which can extend aerial combos. In addition, this ability can also be charged to increase potency and damage.

11 Aerial Blast

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Aerial Blast is one of the most expensive abilities under the Garuda ability tree. Once players defeat Garuda, they will have access to this tree and a host of other powerful new abilities. Aerial Blast summons a gale-force tornado that sucks minor enemies into its vortex dealing damage and heavy stagger.

While in the Vortex, enemies are incapable of escaping and are set up prime for ranged damage such as Thunderstorm or Heatwave. If upgraded, Aerial Blasts makes for an excellent tool for stunning enemies at half-stagger levels.

10 Thunderstorm

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Thunderstorm belongs to the Ramuh Eikon tree that players acquire by progressing further in Final Fantasy 16's story. Once acquired, Thunderstorm is a pre-unlocked ability that players gain access to. The ability allows Clive to wield Ramuh's spear and call down a destructive barrage of lightning bolts that deal considerable damage.

This ability is great for clearing minor enemies on the battlefield and inflicting heavy damage to staggered foes as the startup of the ability twirls the spear and hits the enemy several times before calling down several lightning bolts.

9 Phoenix Shift

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Phoenix Shift is perhaps going to be the most used ability of most players in Final Fantasy 16. While being one of the starting abilities made available to players in the game, Phoenix Shift excels in combat by granting players swift mobility and versatility compared to other Eikon Abilities while lacking a damage option.

Phoenix Shift belongs to the Phoenix/Ifrit Eikon tree and allows Clive to phase toward an enemy and quickly close the distance while inflicting fire damage to the target should an attack be made.

8 Diamond Dust

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Diamond Dust is an ability belonging to the Shiva Eikon Tree, which players unlock by progressing in Final Fantasy 16's story and unlocking the ability with ability points. Diamond Dust is a wide-range ability that has three stages.

Clive creates a cold snap, freezing nearby enemies and hindering their movement, making them susceptible to the next phase of the attack. After freezing, Clive stabs his sword into the ground two times, creating a wave of ice that shatter enemies and inflicts heavy stagger damage.

7 Heavens Cloud

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Once players venture further into Final Fantasy 16 and defeat the dominant of Odin, they will unlock the Odin Eikon tree, which is one of the most powerful trees in the game, and give Clive access to an entirely new level of gameplay.

While in the Odin Eikon stance, Clive wields the Dark Arm sword, which grants him different melee options compared to his normal stance. Heavens Cloud is an ability only accessible while using the Dark Arm and allows Clive to phase in quick succession and slash enemies to a near-unlimited amount.

6 Titanic Block

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Final Fantasy 16 has multiple ways to overcome damage and enemy attacks. From the very beginning of the game, the combat system instructs the players about the parry and dodge systems to help in avoiding bringing defeat. However, once players progress into the story and defeat the Eikon, Titan, they will obtain the Titan tree and acquire the Titanic Block skill.

Titanic Block introduces a new way to stave off damage by using the embodiment of the TItan Eikon to block incoming attacks and even counter enemy attacks, creating a more versatile opening compared to the basic parry and dodge mechanics available.

5 Raging Fists

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Raging Fists is another ability belonging to the Titan Eikon tree, which can only be unlocked by defeating the Titan dominant in Final Fantasy 16's story. The Raging Fists ability is a flurry of blows that rapidly pelt enemies directly in front of Clive with punches that have increased stagger damage.

Raging Fists can also be used in tandem with the counter provided by Titanic Block to send a barrage of punches from both fists that will seem similar to Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure.

4 Heatwave

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Heatwave is an incredibly strong ability with a wide variety of uses when engaging with multiple enemy types in Final Fantasy 6. Heatwave is an ability belonging to the Phoenix/Ifrit ability tree and must be unlocked with ability points.

At its base rank, Heatwave lets Clive create a wall of flamer that Clive slashes, sending waves of fire at a specific target(s). Heatwave can also block incoming projectiles, which will increase the number of fire projectiles that Clive sends back at the target.

3 Dancing Steel

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Another powerful ability from the Odin Eikon tree is Dancing Steel. This ability allows Clive to Summon another mighty sword from Odin's armory, allowing him to duel-wield and attack with both blades simultaneously.

RELATED: RPGs That Have Flexible Class Systems

With increased attack speed and damage, Dancing Steel is great for dealing a considerable amount of damage to staggered enemies in a short amount of time. When further upgraded and allowed to be equipped to other Eikon slots, Dancing Steel will work great with other Eikon abilities such as Titanic Blocks counter and Rooks Gambit.

2 Impulse

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

One of the strongest Eikon trees in Final Fantasy 16 belongs to the mighty dragon dominant, Bahamut. While there are quite a few abilities in this tree that are incredibly powerful, there are a few that show more utility. Impulse is an especially powerful move for staggering enemies, allowing Clive to combine with other techniques.

Using this ability, Clive fires off several seeking projectiles that constantly damage one or multiple targets and grow in damage the longer they last. In addition, the projectiles can also hinder the enemy's movement and root them in place.

1 Gigaflare

final fantasy 16 eikon ability

Hardcore fans of Elden Ring will highly enjoy the Gigaflare ability as it resembles the almighty energy beam spell Comet Azure in the game. This ability belongs to the dragon Eikon, Bahamut, and must be purchased with ability points. Clive gathers the power of the great Eikon and unleashes it in a powerful beam of pure energy.

This ability has incredibly fast casting, so it is perfect for staggered foes or a tight grouping of enemies. Perhaps using this ability along with the Aerial Blast ability from the Garuda tree may be optimal.

Final Fantasy 16 is only available on PlayStation 5.
