During the March 6 Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Microsoft and Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 will fully launch on Xbox Series X/S on Thursday, March 21. The Xbox Series X/S version of Final Fantasy 14 will arrive at a busy time for the game, as it will be sandwiched between the release of Patch 6.58 and a highly-anticipated panel for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion.

At the time of writing, the Xbox version of Final Fantasy 14 is in open beta and only covers the free trial version of the critically-acclaimed MMORPG. While this open beta is limited to new players looking to try Final Fantasy 14 for the first time, it offers the base game, A Realm Reborn, and the Heavensward and Stormblood expansions, with a level cap of 70 and no playtime restrictions. Although the Xbox Series X version supports playing Final Fantasy 14 at 4K resolution, there are some caveats. Currently, Xbox players face the same free trial restrictions, as they are unable to form or join free companies, use certain functions such as the market board, or access some combat features such as Ultimate raids.
