September 24 Is A Day For Growing Light

At the 2023 Tokyo Game Show, Final Fantasy 14 will broadcast the next Letter from the Producer Live, which will go over some additional details for Patch 6.5, Growing Light. During the second day of the Las Vegas FanFest, Square Enix showed the first details for the final major update of Endwalker and revealed the early October release window for the patch. Final Fantasy 14 fans should expect the trailer for Growing Light to be shown to start the TGS broadcast, along with an official release date for the patch. Given the fact that Square Enix tends to release patches on Tuesdays, Patch 6.5 will launch on either October 3 or October 10.

Game producer and director Naoki Yoshida will take the stage at TGS to go over some gameplay that players will experience in Patch 6.5, such as the Alliance Raid called Thaleia, and the Abyssal Fracture Trial. Yoshida will also gloss over some Job balance updates that will arrive with the patch. However, players should not expect any Job reworks in the short term, as the development team is shifting its focus from Endwalker to Dawntrail when it comes to major Job mechanics and potential reworks. With the Dragoon and the Astrologian confirmed to receive reworks in Dawntrail, and two new Jobs waiting in the wings, players will not have to wait too much longer to hear more about those.

The Road to Dawntrail Picks Up On October 21

Nearly a month after TGS, the Final Fantasy 14 team will fly into London for the European FanFest on October 21 and 22 at the ExCeL London convention center. At that time, fans waiting to hear more details about Dawntrail will be in luck, as the keynote address for the London FanFest will go over more details that were not covered during the Las Vegas FanFest. This may include the reveal of one of the two new Jobs arriving in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail. One is a melee DPS, and the other is a spell caster DPS. During the Las Vegas FanFest, Yoshida was seen wearing a t-shirt featuring artwork from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which fueled speculation from FF14 players on social media. Fans watching or attending the London FanFest should keep an eye on Yoshida's t-shirt for clues.

With an influx of new players expected due to the impending Xbox version of Final Fantasy 14, Yoshida may also offer more precise details as to when players can sign up for the beta client on their Xbox Series X/S consoles. With both September 24 and October 21 right around the corner, it remains to be seen how both announcements will be received by Final Fantasy 14 players eager for new content.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version launching in Spring 2024.
