Final Fantasy 14 just revealed the grand prize winners for the Reaper and Sage Weapon Design Contest. In addition to winning some fabulous in-game prizes, these fan designs will all appear in Final Fantasy 14 as collectible items sometime in the future.

The designs were shown off during the Live Letter from the Producer which aired at the beginning of Final Fantasy 14’s recent 14-Hour Broadcast. Though dozens of fantastic designs were shown off, Final Fantasy 14 selected four designs–two Reaper scythes and two Sage nouliths–to be the grand prize winners.

The two Reaper weapons are suitably edgy for Final Fantasy 14's scythe-wielding demon hunters. One of the weapons is designed after the Reaper’s Avatar–the pact demon central to the class’s ability rotation–while the other sports a scarecrow perfect for the Halloween season. The Sage weapons, on the other hand, are more on the adorable and charming side. One entry reimagines the four floating wand-like nouliths as a set of faerie wings inspired by Feo Ul, a pixie from the Shadowbringers expansion, while the second is an adorable maid-themed cutlery set.

These grand prize winners will join the winners of the first Final Fantasy 14 Weapon Design Contest. Since the first began right before the Reaper and Sage were announced, the two new Endwalker classes were not featured, prompting Final Fantasy 14 to hold a second contest for them. All of these winning weapon designs–and possibly some exceptional runner-ups selected at Final Fantasy 14’s discretion–will appear in-game in the future. In the meantime, the winners and runner-ups all also receive rare and unique in-game cosmetics as a reward for their excellent designs.

These incredible designs were just some of the many players submitted to the contest. Now that the grand prize winners have been revealed, many other contestants are sharing their own Final Fantasy 14 Weapon Design Contest submissions. Though these weapons were not selected, they are no less incredible. With designs ranging from cute or funny to elegant or downright awesome, all the weapons would be excellent additions to the critically-acclaimed MMORPG.

Final Fantasy 14’s recent 14-Hour Broadcast was full of exciting information for fans. A new Final Fantasy 14 patch is right around the corner, and a new Encyclopedia Eorzea has been confirmed for the near future. Additionally, Final Fantasy 14 scheduled its first live Fan Fest event since before the COVID-19 pandemic. With the first event scheduled for July 28th, 2023, players can expect a formal announcement of the next Final Fantasy 14 expansion to come then, with the expansion itself likely launching in early 2024.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
