To Final Fantasy 14 players, mounts are more than just faster ways to get around. They are status symbols. Players like to flaunt the mounts they get for rare achievements. A gorilla may run and fly as fast as a Chocobo, but its a gorilla, and not every player has one!

Some FF14 mounts are impossible to get because they were only available for a limited amount of time. Others are only rare because they cost real money. On this list, we have ten mounts that are just plain difficult to get in-game. Not impossible, but quite difficult!

10 Astrope

This is the rarest two-seater mount you can get. How do you get it? First of all, you have to be a mentor. That is not for everyone, and you also have to meet certain requirements to become one. Once you are a mentor, you must unlock Mentor roulette in the Duty Finder. Then you have to complete 2,000 duties within that roulette. That is a lot of duties.

One player, who did one to 30 runs of the roulette a day, took 11 months to get this rare mount.

9 Centurio Tiger

If you want this mount, we hope you like doing hunts!

Actually, you need to more than like doing hunts. You better love hunts because to get this mount, you need to take on 3,000 A-rank and 2,000 S-rank hunts. That can take years of gameplay. For S rank hunts, you need to be at the right place and at the right time, so some actually argue that this mount is harder to get than Astrope.

8 The PVP Warsteeds

This one is for the PVP content fans out there.

100 Frontline victories is a lot on its own. For a warsteed though, you need 100 Frontline victories all with one Grand Company. Most players freelance with various companies, so you can easily do 100 victories but have them all spread out between the Grand Companies. Just one horse is hard. If you want all three horses, you are going to have a long road ahead of you.

7 Kirin

This rare mount is easier than it used to be to get. You need all the ponies that are rare drops from the Nightmare difficulty trials of Garuda, Ifrit, Shiva, Titan, Leviathan, and Ramuh. That's right, every single rare pony needs to be farmed from every single one of those Nightmare trials. We sure hope you have friends to help you!

Once you have every single pony, you can finally get Kirin.

6 Forgiven Reticence

It is pretty cool that this intimidating Sin Eater from Eulmore in Shadowbringers is a mount. However, getting it is no easy feat. You have to do a lot of hunts and collect 3,200 Sack of Nuts to purchase this mount. That is not has hard as the Centurio Tiger, but it will still take any average player a long while to gather.

Its flavor text is pretty interesting once you get the mount. It says, "Alerted to its presence in the basement of Eulmore, the hunters of Clan Nutsy set out to vanquish this sin eater. Upon seeing that the creature was not aggressive, however, they decided to keep it instead."

5 The Tank Mounts

Tank mounts include a lion for Paladin, bear for Warrior, Tiger for Gunbreaker, and panther for Dark Knight. If you love tanking, then maybe try to get these mounts! What you have to do for each one is to complete 300 dungeons as that class. Also, all of those dungeons need to be above level 61.

With requirements like that, its easy to understand why we do not see tanks all running around on these mounts. White Mages sure had it easy with their Unicorn mount.

4 Parade Chocobo

Don't forget to commend a player at the end of any dungeon. It can make the difference between them getting this mount or not! To get this Parade Chocobo, players have to aquire 3,000 commendations. That is a ton, seeing as you are lucky to just get one per dungeon. It is especially hard for those who do not play tank and healer classes.

There are other fat chocobo mounts that are much easier to obtain. However, this one is very rare because few players get that many commendations. It can take years. Also, you can't get anyone on your friends list to commendate you either. They made sure you couldn't cheat like that.

3 Sabotender Emperador

No mount is more flashy than this gem. It is massive, fun to look at, and more fun to ride.  It is for players who are either incredibly patient or get very lucky at the Manderville Gold Saucer. It costs two million MGP. Two million gil is nothing to a lot of players, but MGP is a far different story. For most players, the highest amount they can get in a day is 10,000 MGP (and only if you are pretty lucky).

So if you see someone on this mount, you are witnessing a frequent visitor of the Gold Saucer, one of the lucky few who won the Cactpot, or both.

2 Amaro Mount

Amaro are the Chocobo of the world you go to in Shadowbringers. However, they are vastly more difficult to get than any Chocobo.

You need to reach level 80 in every combat class to get this mount. That's right, level 80 in Bard, Monk, Samurai, Dark Knight, Dragoon, Summoner, Scholar, Astrologian, White Mage, Black Mage, Warrior, Gunbreaker, Paladin, Dancer, Ninja, Machinst, and Red Mage. That is a lot of work!

1 Triceratops

You need to complete two achievements for this dinosaur mount. The first one is to slay 2,000 rank-A elite marks in Norvrandt, and the second one is to slay 1,000 elite marks of rank S in Novrandt. In other words, this is like a second Centurio Tiger except even harder because the marks will be a higher level. No big deal, right?
