There is far more to Final Fantasy 14 than its main story and endgame duties like raids and extreme trials. Players can level non-combat jobs (referred to as Disciple of the Hand) like Alchemist, Goldsmith, and many more that allow them to make all sorts of items that they can use for themselves or sell/give them to other players.

There are also jobs like Botany and Mining (referred to as Disciple of the Land) that allow players to gather materials needed for crafting. With the release of Patch 6.3, new materials like Earthbreak Aethersand were added to the game. Here is how players can farm Earthbreak Aethersand.

How to Get Earthbreak Aethersand

There are several ways for Final Fantasy 14 players to get Earthbreak Aethersand. Mining, Fishing, and Botany all have their own methods for acquiring this new material. Keep in mind that Earthbreak Aethersand is not a material that can be gathered directly by players. Instead, Earthbreak Aethersand is acquired by using the Aetherial Reduction ability to break down collectibles obtained through gathering jobs.

When gathering collectibles, players will want to make sure the collectability rating is as high as possible. The higher the rating, the greater the chance of getting Earthbreak Aethersand via Aetherial Reduction. For example, Sophora Roots with a collectability rating of 1,000 resulted in obtaining two Earthbreak Aethersands as depicted in the image above.

For Mining, players will want to go to Mare Lamentorum between 12 AM to 4 AM (Eorzea time, not local or server time) and go to coordinates x21.7, y34.7. There, players can get Earthen Quartz that can be broken down into Earthbreak Aethersand. For Botany, players will want to go to Labyrinthos between the hours of 8 AM to 12 PM (Eorzea time, not local or server time) and head to the coordinates x10.6, y34.8. For Fishing, players will want to dive into the big lake in Upper La Noscea and do some spear fishing. Players can obtain Earthbreak Aethersands from either Verdigris Guppy or Nosceasaur.

Alternatively, if players do not want to spend time waiting for nodes to spawn, players can purchase Earthbreak Aethersands instead. Players can purchase Earthbreak Aethersands from other players on the Market Board, or they can purchase it with Purple Gathering Scrips at a Scrip Exchange NPC. Since prices can vary on the Market Board, it is recommended that players use Purple Gathering Scrips or gather Earthbreak Aethersands themselves.

With so many different methods of gathering Earthbreak Aethersands, players may be wondering how to farm it efficiently like with any other ingredient. It takes a bit of effort, but the best way to farm Earthbreak Aethersand is to have at least Mining and Botany at level cap and have them both geared up with Level 90 Purple Gathering Scrip gear. Go to both Labyrinthos and Mare Lamentorum at the hours specified above and interact with all three nodes that spawn in those areas.

While waiting for the nodes to respawn, players can purchase Earthbreak Aethersands with Purple Gathering Scripts obtained from handing in collectibles and delivering items for custom deliveries. Once the nodes are about to come back up, players can return to those locations and farm the nodes.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Mac, Steam, and PC.
