Final Fantasy 14 just announced the Hairstyle Design Contest for 2023. This artistic competition makes its grand return after an eight-year hiatus, bringing with it some fantastic prizes for Final Fantasy 14 players to earn.
One of the ways Final Fantasy 14 taps into the creativity of its community is through its design contests. In the past, Final Fantasy 14 has held contests for players to design weapons, furniture, and hairstyles to earn in-game rewards and the chance to have their entries added to the game in the future.
Now, Final Fantasy 14 is bringing back the Hairstyle Design Contest in 2023. From now until August 21, players can design theoretical hairstyles they would love to see added to the game. As long as they have an active subscription, they can enter artwork of the hairstyle or submit pictures of a wig or actual hair they styled to qualify. Each participant can enter three different designs by following Final Fantasy 14’s template guides, and the top 30 contestants will receive an adorable Fat Cat Earring in-game cosmetic as a prize.
Some of the designs entered into the Final Fantasy 14 Hairstyle Design Contest might eventually make their way into the game. Square Enix cannot guarantee they will be added, but it reserves the right to add excellent designs from both winners and runner-ups in future updates. Over the eight years since the last contest, nearly all the winning hairstyles have been added to Final Fantasy 14, so there’s a good chance many of the winning designs from the 2023 contest will make it in eventually.
Man fans of Final Fantasy 14 are excited to see the results of this new contest. It has been a long time since the last Hairstyle Design Contest, which produced some of the most popular hair customization options available in the game now. Getting the chance to see their own creations added to the critically-acclaimed MMORPG is too great an opportunity for many fans with artistic and stylistic talent to pass up. Many players are also relieved to see Final Fantasy 14 forbidding AI-generated entries to this contest.
Final Fantasy 14 is currently gearing up for its first in-person Fan Festival in four years. This exciting event kicks off in Las Vegas on July 28, where players can almost certainly expect an announcement of the next expansion. Considering the other Fan Fest dates in October and January, this major release will likely drop sometime early next year, so players will have to see if any of the Hairstyle Design Contest winners make it into the critically-acclaimed MMORPG by then.
