With Hydaelyn and Zodiark's story finished in Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker, fans are wondering what comes next for the MMO. By the end of the expansion, Emet-Selch does mention how much there is to still be explored. There is a lot more to the planet than just Eorzea, and there are whole other worlds out there that can possibly be visited like the First.

While the possible future story plot of Final Fantasy 14 is very unknown, there is a good deal to speculate about in terms of the location of the next expansion. There is actually a lot out there yet to be seen that is mentioned in the game, showing that the MMORPG is far from running out of ideas for new content. Best of all, all these locations sound interesting based on what is already known about them.

The Other Reflections

The world players know and love is known as the Source, but there are a total of 13 entire other worlds. One other has already been visited in Shadowbringers, the First. After the release of patch 6.1, a lot of fans are actually wondering if the 13th world, known as the Void in which voidsent come from, will actually be the setting for the Warrior of Light's next adventure.

Not every world is going to be explored, as some fell to the influence of Ascians. The worlds that are still safe that could possibly be explored in the future include the fourth, eighth, ninth, and eleventh shards. All the rest rejoined with Zodiark and lined up with one of the Source's Calamities. Since Y'sthola is exploring how to transport herself back to the First, it is very likely her research will also develop a way to visit these other four safe worlds.

Locations On The Source

World map of the Source.

The Source has what is known as Three Great Continents, and they are the ones that players are already very familiar with. These continents are Ilsabard, Othard, and Aldenard. Ilsabard is home to Garlemald, Radz-at-Han, and Thavnair. With the Garlean Empire having to be possibly rebuilt, there is the chance of exploring more of this continent in future expansions. Othard has been more explored, with it being the home of Yanxia, The Ruby Sea, Hingashi, and The Azim Steppe. Aldenard, also known as Eorzea, has been explored the most.

However, there is far more to the Source than the Three Great Continents. The New World is one such example, which is a location across the Indigo Deep ocean. Emet-Selch described the cities to be made or colored gold. A tribe of Hyur called the Whalaqee live there in a place called Lapis Canyon, and they created blue magic. The discovery of the New World is rather recent, so it could attract a lot of adventures soon, which could include the Warrior of Light.

There is also the continent of Meracydia, which is south of the Three Great Continents. It is actually the homeland of the Miqo'te, Tiamat, and Bahamut. It was also a place the Allagan Empire sought to conquer, but never could because the people and dragons pushed them back. Meracydia is where the primals Sephirot, Sophia, and Zurvan were summoned. The war turned most of the continent into a wasteland, and the reclusive tribes that still live there are often hostile. It is possible that future expansions will visit this place, especially since Tiamat is free and may wish to go back there.

The list goes on. There is Aerslaent in The Northern Empty, the Old World outside Sharlayan, Hingashi outside Kugane, and more of Dalmasca. Outside the Reflections and Source, there are even other planets like the one's Omega and the dragons originated from. This is all just what is known already in the lore, as well. There could be plenty of places that are yet to even be discovered or mentioned.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
