Final Fantasy 14 takes advantage of the many familiar enemy designs from the franchise's history, designing high-difficulty end-game boss fights with iconic monsters to create stunning set pieces known as Trials. To reward players who are able to complete these difficult encounters, powerful weaponry themed after the bosses are often provided; however, players will also have a rare chance to receive a boss-exclusive mount accented with flashy visual effects.

While these rewards are usually only accessible to players with max level characters and a proven ability to conquer difficult combat challenges, the continual release of new expansions, increased level caps, and stronger gear allows for players of all skill levels to triumph over earlier bosses.

How To Get The Gullfaxi Mount In FF14

The Gullfaxi Whistle is a randomly dropped reward from the primal of earth, Titan in the Trial "The Navel (Extreme)." In order to access this duty, players must first complete the level 50 Main Scenario Quest "The Ultimate Weapon," followed by the quest chain beginning with the quest "The Recurring Problem" located in The Waking Sands (X:7, Y:6). This quest chain will take players through three trials:

The primal of fire, Ifrit in "The Bowl of Embers (Hard)"
The primal of wind, Garuda in "The Howling Eye (Hard)"
Titan in "The Navel (Hard)"

Once players have successfully defeated the hard-difficulty version of Titan, one final quest chain becomes available, starting with "Primal Nature" in The Waking Sands (X:7, Y:5). This final string of quests leads players to the extreme-difficulty versions of the previous trials, beginning with Garuda, followed by Titan, and finally Ifrit.

Players only interested in the Gullfaxi mount can abandon the quests once they've unlocked "The Navel (Extreme)."

While the fight with Titan Extreme is a significant step-up in difficulty compared to any of the encounters found in the Main Scenario Quest, high level players will be able to quickly dispatch Titan in seconds. By enabling the "Undersized Party" option in the Duty Finder settings, players are able to disable the level sync system that normally scales characters' stats down to content-appropriate levels, as well as allowing you to enter the fight alone and remove any party members that could potentially place competing rolls for the mount. Players looking to use this strategy should ensure their characters are powerful enough to defeat Titan alone, entering with an average item level of at least 400 to be safe.

Players wanting to avoid testing their mettle and luck against Titan can potentially skip the grind entirely with the periodic Moogle Treasure Trove events. These events provide players with Moogle Tomestones in exchange for completing special challenges and marked dungeons, trials, and raids, allowing players to purchase a variety of collectibles and rewards that are normally exclusive to other areas of the game. While there's no guarantee the Gullfaxi Whistle will be available to purchase in any given Moogle Treasure Trove event, the mount has been available in four different iterations so far, making it one of the more commonly included rewards.
