Final Fantasy 14 recently announced players could look forward to a third installment of Encyclopedia Eorzea. The lore book is currently in development by Final Fantasy 14, though it currently has no projected release date.

Encyclopedia Eorzea 3 was announced during the Live Letter from the Producer at the beginning of the 14-Hour Broadcast for Final Fantasy 14. Though it has not received an official price, players can expect the encyclopedia to be priced at $50, and will almost certainly include a code for a minion or other cosmetic item with their purchase.

The previous Encyclopedia Eorzea books only covered Final Fantasy 14 lore up through the Stormblood expansion. Two expansions–Shadowbringers and Endwalker–have been released since then, both of which provided a massive amount of world-altering lore. Considering all the ground Encyclopedia Eorzea 3 has to cover, the new lore book for the critically-acclaimed MMORPG will be a must-have for Final Fantasy 14 lore hounds.

Encyclopedia Eorzea 1 and 2, released in 2016 and 2018 respectively, were so massively popular that they sold out almost immediately. Both Final Fantasy 14 books have been frequently out of stock as Square Enix has tried to keep up with demand, and only recently stabilized its supply in a massive reprint during August 2022. If players hope to get their hands on Encyclopedia Eorzea 3, they had best pre-order their copies as soon as it becomes available.

Players are understandably excited about the announcement of the new Final Fantasy 14 lore book. The two previous hard-cover encyclopedias were beautifully-made, and full of incredible world building. The tomes include fascinating trivia about characters, locations, cultures, and even items found in Final Fantasy 14. Considering Shadowbringers and Endwalker contained some of the Final Fantasy 14 community’s favorite characters, it is no surprise fans are eagerly awaiting any new lore they can find about their favorite heroes and villains.

Final Fantasy 14 fans have plenty to look forward to in the near future. During the Live Letter from the Producer, Final Fantasy 14 announced Patch 6.25 arrives on October 18, with Patch 6.3 likely to arrive before the end of 2022. Final Fantasy 14 also revealed the dates for the Fan Festival for 2023 and 2024, where the next expansion is almost certain to be revealed. Hopefully players will get a formal announcement–and possibly even a release date–for Encyclopedia Eorzea 3 at one of the three Fan Fest events as well.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
