Highlights

  • Patch 7.01 and 7.05 will bring adjustments to multiple jobs in Final Fantasy 14.
  • Dawntrail's first post-launch updates will add the Arcadion raid series, crafted gear, and other changes throughout July.
  • Job adjustments will include changes to the Pictomancer's buffs, the Monk's area-of-effect skills, and Tanks' aggro generation.

Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida shared that some Job adjustments will arrive in Patch 7.01 and Patch 7.05 in response to player feedback. Both upcoming Final Fantasy 14 patches will also mark when the 8-player raid series of Dawntrail, The Arcadion, will be accessible in both Normal and Savage modes.

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail is the fifth expansion of Square Enix's critically acclaimed MMORPG. Billed as the start of a new chapter for the game following Endwalker, Dawntrail also saw changes to several Jobs, with reworks to the Dragoon and the Astrologian. The expansion also saw the debut of two DPS Jobs, the melee-focused Viper, and the whimsical Pictomancer. While Dawntrail's launch has been a smoother experience compared to Endwalker, Final Fantasy 14 has seen its share of issues crop up during the expansion's early access window. Yoshida apologized for Dawntrail's technical issues and said that he and the developers would continue to address them.

With Dawntrail's full release underway, Final Fantasy 14 shared details on the first Job changes that will arrive throughout July. According to a post on The Lodestone, Yoshida stated that some Jobs would receive changes with the release of The Arcadion in Patch 7.01, scheduled for July 16. Other adjustments were confirmed for Patch 7.05's release on July 30 to go alongside The Arcadion's Savage mode and the release of some crafted gear. Though the Astrologian was reworked in Dawntrail, the cooldown of its Astral Draw and Umbral Draw will be reduced, and Macrocosmos will be adjusted. The Viper will also see changes to the positional requirements of certain skills, the Samurai and the Red Mage will see minor changes, and all Tanks will have an easier time generating aggro from their area-of-effect attacks.

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail Job Adjustments

  • Tank aggro generation from area-of-effect abilities will be increased.
  • The Astrologian's Macrocosmos, Astral Draw, and Umbral Draw will be changed.
  • Viper and Monk will receive rotational adjustments, and Samurai and Red Mage will get minor changes.
  • The Pictomancer's Aetherhues and Subtractive Palette buffs cannot be removed by players starting in Patch 7.01.

Yoshida also stated that the Pictomancer would receive some fixes to address a strategy that players have held onto for increasing their damage. By right-clicking the buffs for Aetherhues and Subtractive Palette, Pictomancer players can dispel them and gain some additional damage in the long run. Yoshida confirmed this would change in Patch 7.01 and asked Final Fantasy 14 players to refrain from using this strategy. Changes to the Black Mage's MP regeneration and the power of certain spells will arrive in Patches 7.01 and 7.05 respectively, and the Monk will see adjustments to its area-of-effect-skills in Patch 7.01.

Yoshida said the Job changes in his post were not the only ones coming in the next two Final Fantasy 14 patches, and said that feedback will be taken throughout the expansion. As players get a handle on Dawntrail's Extreme trials, only time will tell how the changes will hold up.
