Final Fantasy 14 Dye Changes

Final Fantasy 14 Online is an amazing version of the beloved Final Fantasy franchise that allows players to play online with one another. The game follows the player as they explore the world, diving into the hundreds of hours worth of content the game offers.

One thing that players love is the dye system in the game, but the expansion, Dawntrail, is adding more customization options with this system. For the first time ever, players can use two colors while dying. Here's a breakdown of the new system.

What Changes With Dying Gear In FF14 Dawntrail?

Final Fantasy 14 Dye Changes

Dawntrail is allowing players to change their glamours, letting them dye their gear two different colors at once, which will be another big update to the dye system that has come in recent years.. To do this, players can either craft or purchase the dyes that they want to use and then go for it, customizing their character until they find the perfect look. If you're looking for an easy way to make enough Gil to purchase the dye, check out the list of main scenario quests that were added with the expansion. The first dye that players can use is the main color of the outfit. It will change the biggest parts of the piece. Meanwhile, dye 2 will only change minor accent parts of the gear. For example, dye 1 may change the color of a jacket, while dye 2 only changes the colors of the buttons. Players will want to be sure that they are examining the color changes carefully in order to find the combination that best suits them.

Only certain pieces of gear will allow players to use dye right now. Square Enix has mentioned that they are working on rolling out the feature to more gear, but for right now, it is limited on its use.

How To Unlock The New Dying System

Thankfully, players needn't do anything special to unlock the new dye system. All they need to do is use dye like they normally would, and if the item is available with double dyes, it will automatically allow them to add the second dye to the piece. As soon as players hop on during the Dawntrail expansion, they will be able to start dying their new armor. However, remember this system is not available for all pieces just yet. The older the piece is, the less likely it will be to have the ability to use this double-dye system right out of the gate.
