Director Naoki Yoshida apologized to some players for ongoing technical issues hampering the early access release of the Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail expansion. The debut of the latest major expansion for Square Enix's massively popular MMORPG promised to be one of the most hotly anticipated gaming events of the year. Unfortunately, while the early access launch for Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail went smoothly for many, some players are reporting a few bugs that still need to be squashed.

Final Fantasy 14 players have been eagerly awaiting the release of the new expansion, with the game's previous major update, Final Fantasy: Endwalker, released back in 2021. While Endwalker was met with universal acclaim, its release was also somewhat tarnished by server issues, many of which left users unable to log in or play the game at launch. Longtime fans have been fearful that history would repeat itself, with Square Enix making the same mistakes with the next expansion. This led the development team to introduce measures to mitigate server congestion for Dawntrail's release.

Despite smooth sailing for many, Dawntrail's early access launch is still contending with several major bugs. In response, game director Naoki Yoshida extended an apology for the current state of Final Fantasy 14 in a post made to the game's official website, explaining that three major bugs have been classified as high-priority by the development team. There is also an issue concerning the freezing mechanic featured in several duties, which bears similarities to the previously discovered bug for the Syrcus Tower alliance raid. Problems with animations for certain characters due to some incorrect numerical values in the game's code have also been reported. Yoshida did not give an exact timeline for when players could expect a patch, but the director assured fans that developers were working on fixes as fast as possible and promised a solution would be released within the next few days.

While it's expected that every major update will inevitably contain some bugs, Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail's issues are sure to frustrate excited fans, especially those who purchased the game on an Xbox console. Anxious users can only hope that fixes will quickly be formulated, especially since Final Fantasy 14's scheduled housing auto-demolition will soon free up space for players who have been desperately looking for a home to call their own.
