Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 players can start downloading Dawntrail at one of two intervals during an upcoming maintenance window. Final Fantasy 14 console players will get the first window on Wednesday, June 26, while PC players must wait a day to download and install the massive 7.0 update files.

During the 82nd episode of Letter From the Producer Live, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida said that the Dawntrail expansion would have a larger file size due to the updated graphical assets coming to the game. Yoshida stated that PC players will have a 55 GB download for Patch 7.0 alone, and over 90GB of storage space for the base game and all five expansions. For PS4 and PS5 players, only 75GB to 80GB of storage space will be required due to the data compression technologies used on those systems. However, Yoshida clarified that Xbox Series X/S players need at least 100GB of space once Patch 7.0 is out.

The director of the massively popular MMORPG has wanted to bring the game to a Nintendo platform for years, and the chance may finally arise.

Though Square Enix made plans to alleviate server congestion at launch, the company revealed a schedule for Final Fantasy 14 users to use ahead of Dawntrail. According to a Lodestone post from Square Enix, Final Fantasy 14 players on PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S can start downloading Patch 7.0 on Wednesday, June 26, starting at approximately 7:00 AM Eastern, roughly two hours after the beginning of a 48-hour maintenance window. However, PC players will wait a little longer for their update window. Square Enix clarified that Windows, Mac, and Steam users can begin downloading Dawntrail on Thursday, June 27, around 11:00 AM Eastern.

Final Fantasy 14 also confirmed that the game will begin its 48-hour maintenance on Wednesday, June 26, at 5:00 AM Eastern, and conclude no sooner than Friday, June 28 at the same time. Ergo, Final Fantasy 14 players will have one week from the time of writing to complete their in-game preparations ahead of Dawntrail's early access period.

Billed as the beginning of a new era for Final Fantasy 14, the excitement around Dawntrail continues to rise. How Square Enix will handle the new expansion's release remains to be seen.
