Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.55 added the new Asura Trial encounter from FanFest, but to unlock it, players must go through the Hildibrand questline from Endwalker. This Final Fantasy 14 boss battle can be easily missed by those who aren’t caught up with the iconic comical questline, so fans should be sure not to overlook this exciting fight.

Growing Light Part 2, the final story patch for Final Fantasy 14 before Dawntrail, recently went live, building a narrative bridge between Endwalker and the next expansion, and introducing epilogues to several side stories. The patch also added The Gilded Araya, a brand-new trial fight against Asura that players got the chance to challenge at last year's Fan Festival conventions.

Final Fantasy 14 Bringing Back FF11 Collaboration Event

Final Fantasy 14 is doing another rerun of FF11 crossover event, The Maiden's Rhapsody, so players can experience it before Dawntrail's release.

However, the Asura boss battle is not encountered as a part of the Final Fantasy 14 Main Scenario quests as many fans expected it to be. This special fight is unlocked during the Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures, an optional questline featuring the eponymous eccentric detective and his hijinks across multiple worlds. During the thrilling climax of this expansion’s Hildibrand story, players unlock The Gilded Araya, and can battle the bloodthirsty war goddess Asura in a fun and frenetic fight.

How To Unlock the Asura Trial in Final Fantasy 14

  • Complete the Endwalker Main Scenario.
    • Players do not need to complete any of the patch content to start this quest.

  • Progress through the Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures questline.
  • Unlock The Gilded Araya during the Gentlemen at Heart quest, near the end of the storyline.
    • The Trial has a minimum item level requirement of 625.

This isn’t the first time Final Fantasy 14 has put a trial in the Hildibrand story. Three of such fights were found in the A Realm Reborn Hildibrand questline, and a fourth in Stormblood, making Asura – the six-armed summon who first appeared in Final Fantasy 4 – the fifth of such battles. Players who seek to unlock the Mentor Roulette, or who are trying to upgrade their Manderville Relic Weapons to the final stage, will need to defeat Asura in order to do so.

Unfortunately, The Gilded Araya does not have an extreme version of the battle, so fans looking for a serious challenge will have to wait until Dawntrail to find one. However, with the Futures Rewritten Eden Ultimate, the Arcadion Savage raid, and a slew of new Extreme trials coming in the next expansion, hardcore players will have plenty to look forward to soon.
