With the news that there will be a Final Destination 6, fans of the fun horror franchise are excited to see what happens next. While not every film has been excellent, the franchise deserves praise for creating interesting new settings and big moments for each movie. Final Destination 3 features an epic rollercoaster crash, The Final Destination sees a racetrack accident, and Final Destination 5 is a prequel about a horrifying bridge collapse. These movies are squarely in the fun horror movie category and the opening scenes are so over-the-top that it's impossible not to love them.

Before Final Destination 6 comes out, it's fun to imagine what this new horror movie could be like, from characters to whether it will refer back to any previous films.

Horror fans are excited for a new Final Destination movie. According to the IMDb page for Final Destination 6, the plot description for the new film reads, "As a group of first responders escape death's grasp, they start to be killed by increasingly unlikely and killer mishaps." It sounds great to focus on this setting, as these are going to be characters who are already dealing with a fast-paced and chaotic world.

According to Cinema Blend, producer Craig Perry said, "We're toying with having it take place in the world of first responders: EMTs, firemen and police. These people deal with death on the front lines every day, and make choices that can cause people to live or die. We rely on their good judgement, expertise and calm demeanor. So why not put those people in the nightmare situation where every choice can bring about life and death – but now for themselves? We're thinking that world might be an interesting way into a Final Destination movie, and one which can also generate unique set pieces in a very credible way."

When fans think about what they want from Final Destination 6, it would definitely be cool to see some references to previous films and Easter eggs. This could mean a murder that reminds fans of the Final Destination death scenes that fans are still thinking about, or maybe one of the characters does some investigating and learns about this phenomenon happening before. This would make fans smile and help link the movies together.

The new movie should also have a well-drawn main character. There are many reasons why Final Destination 3 is a great sequel and Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is a nicely written teenager missing her friends who were killed in an awful rollercoaster crash, trying to figure out what has been going on. While the new movie will focus on a group of characters, it would be great if there was one who audiences can care about a lot. These movies work the best when there is one main character who fans hope will survive until the end of the movie, despite knowing that Death is coming for everyone who escaped their wrath at the beginning of the film. Some of the entries in the franchise have featured some weaker main characters, so it will be interesting to see who the movie focuses on.

It would also be cool if one of the newer characters was connected to Alex Browning, Devon Sawa's character from the first film. Horror fans loved seeing final girl Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) come back for Scream (2022) and it always feels special to see original characters return. While it makes sense that there's no final girl character in the Final Destination franchise, since the entire point is that the characters can't survive as that would mean escaping Death, which just isn't possible, Alex is the person who first predicted that something terrible would occur.

This would definitely be an interesting way to make fans nostalgic for the original movie while connecting the whole franchise. There would be some work involved for the timing to make sense, depending on when Final Destination 6 is set and how many years it has been since the first film, but maybe a main character in the new movie is somehow related to Alex. Scream (2022) was smart to tie the movies together by featuring Randy Meeks's (Jamie Keenedy) niece and nephew, twins Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding).

The Final Destination franchise has never taken itself too seriously and the movies really lean into their entertainment value. It would be fun if Final Destination 6 had a campy tone and featured more funny lines and jokes than the previous movies. Thanks to the success of Scream (2022), it seems like there is definitely still a place in the horror genre for movies that are funny but also bring on some big scares.
