Given how many of the world's most talented footballers are plying their trade in Spain, it's easy to see why so many FIFA 23 players decide to build a La Liga team in the game's Ultimate Team mode. There are several great options for every position, though building a Liga BBVA FUT team on a budget is far from simple, with most of the league's big names costing well over 100,000 coins a piece.
Luckily, there are still a few bargains to be had here and there, allowing FIFA 23 players to build some surprisingly sweaty teams without having to break the bank or resort to spending real-world money on coins or packs. The best La Liga teams in FUT 23 can utilize these talents, while also providing players with a clear upgrade path for when the coins start rolling in.
Updated January 21, 2023, by Tom Bowen: For fans of Spanish football, The 2022-23 season has been a mixed one thus far. On the one hand, Spain never really got going at the World Cup in Qatar, ultimately getting knocked out by an excellent Morocco team on penalties in the round of sixteen. Domestically, though, it's been a fairly exciting season, with Barcelona looking as though they may be back to their best and Real Sociedad once again putting up a good first-half-of-the-season fight. This has led to plenty of great promotional cards being introduced in FIFA 23, which has in turn caused the prices of the base cards of many of the best La Liga players to fall quite a bit. As such, those who are looking to build the best La Liga team in FUT 23 now have more options than ever, particularly if they've been able to earn themselves a lot of coins.
All of the teams below have full chemistry in-game, though as FIFA 23 doesn't allow players to alter the positions of concept cards, the images below may not reflect this. Players might need to use consumable items to change certain players' positions, while the prices provided are all subject to change. All three squad suggestions will use the 4-3-3 formation as this is one of the more popular formations in the FUT game mode.
The Best Budget La Liga Team for FUT 23 (10,000 Coins)
Position | Name | Price |
---|---|---|
GK | Alex Remiro | 850 |
RB | Jesus Navas | 1,100 |
LB | Alex Moreno | 700 |
CB | Jawad El Yamiq | 750 |
CB | Pau Torres | 1,100 |
CM | Thomas Lemar | 1,200 |
CM | Koke | 1,200 |
CM | Sabin Merino | 1,300 |
RW | Samuel Chukwueze | 700 |
LW | Ansu Fati | 700 |
ST | Iñaki Williams | 700 |
The best La Liga starter teams are built around pace, with Samuel Chukwueze, Ansu Fati, and Iñaki Williams available for a little over 3,000 coins between them. Not bad, considering the latter is one of the fastest players in FIFA 23. Players can find pace in the full-back positions without breaking the bank too, with Alex Moreno and former Manchester City man Jesus Navas both available at budget prices and boasting pace stats that are above 85.
Unfortunately, there aren't too many central midfielders with high pace stats plying their trade in La Liga, but there are plenty of highly-rated ones, some of whom can be snapped up for next to nothing. Thomas Lemar, Koke, and Sabin Merino all boast an 83 overall rating, and, like this team's forward line, are available for a little over 3,000 coins between them.
The Best Mid-Range La Liga Team for FUT 23 (50,000 Coins)
Position | Name | Price |
---|---|---|
GK | Alex Remiro | 850 |
RB | Jesus Navas | 1,100 |
LB | Alex Moreno | 700 |
CB | Jawad El Yamiq | 750 |
CB | Pau Torres | 1,100 |
CM | Thomas Lemar | 1,200 |
CM | Koke | 1,200 |
CM | Pedri | 14,000 |
RW | Samuel Chukwueze | 700 |
LW | Yannick Carrasco | 13,000 |
ST | Iñaki Williams | 700 |
As any veteran Ultimate Team player will already know, there's not too much difference between a 10,000 coin team and one that costs 50,000, so players should think carefully about how to make their extra budget count. Career Mode wonderkidPedri offers a decent option in this regard, with his 87 dribbling and decent physicality making him a solid choice for the center of the pitch.
As the best strikers in La Liga tend to cost more than 100,000 coins each, players will probably want to look at upgrading one of their wingers instead. Like the strikers, a lot of La Liga's best right wing options are a little pricey, but Yannick Carrasco offers excellent value for money on the opposite flank and represents a massive improvement over Ansu Fati in pretty much every measurable stat.
The Best High-End La Liga Team for FUT 23 (250,000 Coins)
Position | Name | Price |
---|---|---|
GK | Jan Oblak | 37,000 |
RB | Jesus Navas | 1,100 |
LB | Jordi Alba | 17,500 |
CB | Ronald Araújo | 1,100 |
CB | Pau Torres | 1,100 |
CM | Thomas Lemar | 1,200 |
CM | Koke | 1,200 |
CM | Pedri | 14,000 |
RW | Raphinha | 1,800 |
LW | Yannick Carrasco | 13,000 |
ST | Robert Lewandowski | 195,000 |
Given that Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski are tied for the title of FIFA 23's best player, it seems silly not to sign one of them for the number nine position. As the latter's Ones to Watch card is considerably cheaper than the Madrid man's Winter Wildcards version, he's arguably the better option and also has great chemistry with the rest of the team. Players can also think about upgrading their right winger at this time, with Raphinha getting the nod ahead of Ousmane Dembélé due to the latter costing more than twice as much.
Other than that, players can start to look at increasing their team's overall rating, with Barcelona defenders Jordi Alba and Ronald Araújo available at fairly reasonable prices. Replacing Remiro with Jan Oblak is also a good idea. Like Real Madrid shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois, Oblak is one of the best goalkeepers in FIFA 23. Granted, Courtois' 90 overall rating is a little better than Oblak's 89, but the Belgian costs almost twice as much despite his diving, handling, and kicking all being inferior.
The Best Value La Liga Promo Cards in FUT 23
Position | Name | Price |
---|---|---|
RW | Antoine Griezmann (87) | 28,500 |
LW | Yannick Carrasco (87) | 71,000 |
ST | Robert Lewandowski (93) | 195,000 |
After an explosive start to the season, interest in Antoine Griezmann has cooled off a little now, which bodes well for those looking for a decent right winger for their team. His second in-form card can be snapped up for under 30k, making it an easy choice for those on a budget. On the opposite flank, Yannick Carrasco's World Cup Path to Glory card still represents pretty good value for money, thanks in large to its impressive Dribbling and Pace stats. In the center, Robert Lewandowski's Ones to Watch card is far from cheap, but when compared to all of the other high-rated promotional ST cards in La Liga, it's by far the best option when it comes to value for money.
The Best La Liga Team in FUT 23 (Unlimited Budget)
Position | Name | Price |
---|---|---|
GK | Thibaut Courtois | 56,500 |
RB | Carvajal (WCPtG) | 78,000 |
LB | Jordi Alba (FUTC) | 90,000 |
CB | Antonio Rüdiger (OtW) | 400,000 |
CB | Gerard Piqué (RB) | 164,000 |
CM | Frenkie de Jong (WCPtG) | 304,000 |
CM | Toni Kroos (SIF) | 60,000 |
CM | Luka Modric (RtWC) | 179,000 |
RW | Antoine Griezmann (WCPtG) | 496,000 |
LW | Alejandro Gómez (WCPtG) | 640,000 |
ST | Robert Lewandowski (OtW) | 195,000 |
Somewhat remarkably, Thibaut Courtois' base card remains the highest-rated La Liga goalkeeper in FUT 23, and is one of four cards that come in at under 100,000 coins here. The World Cup Path to Glory series provides some great options for those looking to build the best La Liga team in FUT 23, with Alejandro Gómez, Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong, and Carvajal's PtG variants all being best in class. The Ones to Watch and Rulebreakers sets also provide some useful options, allowing players to assemble a near unstoppable team if they have the coins for it.
FIFA 23 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
