The Ultimate Team game mode in FIFA 23 can seem intimidating at first, particularly for those who don't want to spend real money on packs. Thankfully, with a little bit of grinding, players can earn enough coins to throw together a pretty decent team, particularly if they opt for players who are plying their trade in the German Bundesliga.

The best Bundesliga teams in FUT 23 are able to provide an excellent mix of pace and power while still coming in at a reasonable price. Whether players are looking for a budget team or something a little more high-end, this guide will highlight some of the division's biggest bargains as well as those capable of transforming a good team into a great one.

Updated January 21, 2023, by Tom Bowen: Though at one point it was starting to look as though Union Berlin may threaten the status quo, normal service has now resumed in the Bundesliga. As the teams prepare to return from their winter break, Bayern are sitting pretty at the top of the table, four points clear of their nearest challengers. This upturn in form has led to many Bayern players being treated to promotional cards in FIFA 23, which has in turn had a huge impact on the best Bundesliga team builds in Ultimate Team. Those hoping to compete with the best squads online may want to consider targeting some of the best Bundesliga players, as from a value-for-money perspective, the German league is a solid option for anyone who is operating on a budget.

All of the teams below have full chemistry in-game, though as FIFA 23 doesn't allow players to alter the positions of concept cards, the images below may not reflect this. Players might need to use consumable items to change certain players' positions, while the prices provided are all subject to change. All three squad suggestions will use the 4-3-3 formation as this is one of the more popular formations in the FUT game mode.

This Bundesliga starter team is about as sweaty as they come, with all of the defenders and forwards boasting 80 Pace or higher. As a result, David Raum and Ruben Vargas have the potential to cause the opposition's right back some serious problems as they rampage down the left flank, but the star of the show is undoubtedly Sheraldo Becker, who effectively serves as FIFA 23's Victor Ibarbo.

The Union Berlin forward is one of the fastest players in FIFA 23, and although his finishing is a little below par, at under 1,000 coins, he's an absolute steal and a must-buy for any budget Bundesliga FUT team. At the back, Evan Ndicka and Josko Gvardiol provide solid options and are both more than capable of anchoring the defense in mid-range teams as well.

For as good as the budget team's attacking options are, players will likely want to upgrade their front three as soon as they're able as pace alone is not enough to win matches. With all three boasting electrifying pace, Moussa Diaby, Leroy Sane, and Timo Werner provide excellent options here, as in addition to them all being fast, the trio also boasts solid dribbling, passing, and shooting skills.

With the leftover coins, players can snap up 83-rated Konrad Laimer to boost their overall rating a little more and add some extra finesse to the center of their midfield. The defense will have to remain unchanged for now, but given that all four have decent pace and are rated above 80, this shouldn't really be an issue against all but the very best of teams and players.

With the forward line already sorted, players with a 250,000 coin budget can now start to think about improving their fullbacks. For those who can afford him, Alphonso Davies provides an excellent option at left back, with 94 pace and 85 dribbling, as well as solid defense and passing stats. On the opposite flank, Jeremie Frimpong's World Cup Phenom card provides pace, dribbling, and passing for under 100k. Upgrading Timo Werner to his Road to World Cup card is also a good idea.

Leon Goretzka and in-form Jude Bellingham can be drafted in to sure up the midfield, while Kevin Trapp and in-form Matthijs de Ligt can help to boost the team's overall rating a little while adding a bit of extra muscle at the back. The latter is a little slower than Gvardiol but provides a little more height and strength to the backline as well as a much higher overall rating. Eventually, players will want to replace Ndicka with a more highly-rated center back like Sule or Hernandez, but doing so is far from essential.

It wasn't all that long ago that Mario Gomez was tearing up the Bundesliga, with his height and strength making him a real handful for opposition defenders. At under 30k, his Hero card is an absolute steal and an excellent option for those looking to build a competitive Bundesliga team on a budget in FUT 23. To his left, Kingsley Coman's World Cup Squad Building Challenge card offers pace and precision for a few thousand more, while Koman's Bayern teammate Serge Gnabry is a solid pick for the opposite flank thanks to his World Cup Path to Glory card.

Interestingly, Manuel Neuer's base card remains the best option for the goalkeeper position, while the best Bundesliga right backs haven't changed too much either. Players are spoiled for choice just about everywhere else on the pitch though, with some incredible (albeit, expensive) promotional cards having been released over the past few months. Saudio Mané's One's to Watch card is fairly reasonably priced considering its stats, as too is Jürgen Kohler's World Cup Heroes card (particularly when compared to Lucio's). The rest are arguably overpriced, but for those with an unlimited budget, this Bundesliga team should be able to go toe-to-toe with the very best in FUT 23.

FIFA 23 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
