Much of the Spaniard's success can be attributed to the club's excellent recruitment in recent years, though his tactical know-how and footballing philosophy have also played a big part.
With Gunners fans once again daring to dream of Premier League glory, it's not too surprising to see so many of them opting to play as the club in FIFA 23. Like Arteta though, they're going to need to find the best formation and starting eleven for Arsenal if they're to find success this season, which, given the strength of Manchester City, would be an incredible achievement. The Best Formation for Arsenal in FIFA 23
Given that most of the Gunners' best wide players are classed as midfielders rather than wingers in FIFA 23, players are somewhat limited when it comes to selecting the best setup for Arsenal. Thankfully, the 4-4-1-1 Midfield formation can work wonders, as it boasts both LM and RM positions as well as a CAM spot for those hoping to play Martin Ødegaard just off the main striker.
The Best Starting 11 for Arsenal in FIFA 23
Despite being one of the most underrated players in FIFA 23, Jesus is still head and shoulders above the club's other strikers and so is an easy pick for the number nine shirt. Likewise, thanks to his 84 rating, Ødegaard is the only logical choice for the CAM position. Behind him, Partey and Xhaka complete the central midfield, while Martinelli and Saka bring a healthy burst of pace to the left and right midfield berths respectively.
Four of Arsenal's back five all but pick themselves in FIFA 23, with Tierney, Gabriel, Saliba, and Ramsdale by far the best options available at the back. Though some players may opt to go with Ben White at right back just as Mikel Arteta has often done over the last few seasons, Tomiyasu offers just a little bit more in the pace department as well as some extra physicality and a higher defensive work rate.
Tactics and Instructions
As far as defense goes, players should press after losing possession and try to keep the back four fairly narrow to force opposing teams outside. Decreasing the depth of the defensive line can also help, as this will potentially create more space when countering. With that in mind, players will want to go with fast build-up play and should rely on forward runs from the front three to create the bulk of the team's chances.
Saka and Martinelli should be set to cut inside and instructed to come back on defense while the team is out of possession. Conversely, the full-backs should be told to get forward during offensive plays and to overlap so as to create some extra space for the players in front of them. Ødegaard can be set to free roam, while Jesus should stay central and aim to get in behind the opposition's back line as often as possible.
