Final Fantasy VII Rebirth allows players to choose from a variety of difficulty levels and choose the one that suits their playstyle.

While Final Fantasy XVI was widely acclaimed by the fanbase, one of the reservations the community had was the game was way too easy at times. Thankfully, the developers have duly noted that and players get a much harder challenge in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Not to forget, there is an all-new difficulty mode as well which is definitely worth a try. Apart from getting an option to transfer their saved data and redeem bonuses, players also have to select the difficulty level right at the start of the game. Here is all you need to know about difficulty levels in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Difficulty Options Compared

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth offers players four difficulty options: Easy, Normal, Dynamic, and Hard. While three of them are quite typical, players might be quite confused as to what the Dynamic mode actually consists of. Here is a brief rundown of all the difficulty levels in FF7 Rebirth:

FF7 Rebirth Difficulty Levels

Easy

Goes without saying, this is by far the best choice for players who are looking to simply enjoy the game and not fret about any of the combat encounters. While that might sound enticing to many, it actually dumbs down the AI considerably, making the encounters more of a chore. Players might as well consider switching to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Classic Combat style for this mode.

Normal

This mode offers a well-balanced difficulty level, allowing players to take their time, enjoy the game, and engage in some challenging battles. That being said, unlike Hard, the majority of the encounters will be fairly easy, although the enemies would still provide enough resistance to make it enjoyable.

Hard

This difficulty level can only be unlocked after players have beaten the game once, and the restrictions pretty much justify that. From extremely unforgiving battles to the inability to use items, Hard mode can be a tough nut to crack.

Dynamic

Probably the most interesting difficulty level of the lot; in this mode, the game adjusts the difficulty level based on the player's skills. For players who aren't getting a knack of the Normal mode on the first playthrough, the Dynamic mode can significantly ramp up the difficulty level of the battles.

Which Difficulty Option Is The Best In FF7 Rebirth?

For most players, Normal difficulty is going to be the best option, as it provides the perfect balance between allowing the players to immerse themselves in the game's environment while not being that challenging at the same time.

However, the newly added Dynamic mode is also pretty well done, and players should definitely try it out at least once. Considering that the difficulty can be changed on the fly, players can easily check which difficulty mode suits their playstyle the most.

Is There a Difficulty Trophy in FF7 Rebirth?

Unfortunately, if you're trying to get the coveted Platinum trophy for FF7 Rebirth, you will need to beat the game at least two times. This is due to the fact that there's a trophy requiring you to beat all of FF7 Rebirth's chapters on Hard mode, which is not unlocked from the get-go.
