Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has a couple of graphic modes to offer players, depending on whether they want to optimize their performance or the game's visual fidelity.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's demo received quite a bit of flak from the community for subpar graphics. While even Final Fantasy 16 suffered from similar issues, the problem was much more amplified in this case. Thankfully, the developers have addressed some of those, although a few issues still linger. While players get the option to transfer their saved data while starting the game for the first time, the option to change the graphics mode can be a bit tricky to locate. It is hidden inside the System tab of the Main Menu, and players can cycle between the modes anytime they want.

What Modes Are Available In FF7 Rebirth?

Like most other games, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gives players two graphics modes: Graphics and Performance. Depending on their choice, their experience in the game can significantly differ.

  • Graphics Mode - For players who want to prioritize visuals, this mode achieves dynamic resolution quite close to 4K, and players will witness the true beauty of the game's world. As one might have guessed, it does come with a cost of being capped only at 30 FPS.
  • Performance Mode - If framerate is your priority, then Performance Mode is here to the rescue. While this mode doesn't maintain 60FPS all the time, the stutters aren't that frequent. But just like the Graphics mode, there is a price to pay here as well, which is in the form of lower graphics quality, including but not limited to textures, lighting, and resolution.

Which Is The Best Graphics Mode In FF7 Rebirth?

For games like these, most of the time players would choose performance mode considering that pulling off those slick combos at 60FPS is quite satisfying. However, for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, that might not be the case. The reason for the disparity is that the Performance mode's visuals are actually quite subpar, and players will witness visibly blurry characters, which can put a damper on the gameplay experience.

Surely, the 60FPS is extremely nice to have, but considering how good the game's world is, Performance mode doesn't do justice to it. The only case where Performance mode might be a good choice is when players are playing on lower resolutions and smaller screens, as the inconsistencies will be less prominent.

That being said, Graphics mode also comes with its own set of issues, and certain areas can be extremely choppy. Many players in the community are resorting to alternating between the modes in specific regions to find the right balance.
