There are 36 side quests in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, one of which is called Of Robed Men and Ransoms. Players will first gain access to this quest after their arrival in North Corel during the game's seventh chapter, though they'll need to speak with an old acquaintance of Barret and Tifa's before getting started.

Chapter 7 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth sees players arrive in the Corel Region, where they'll have access to four side quests to begin with.
As for its content, Of Robed Men and Ransoms sees Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players trying to track down one of the mysterious robed figures who's currently being held for ransom by a couple of kidnappers. It also takes them to an otherwise inaccessible area where they'll be able to find a unique weapon for Red XIII.
How to Start the Of Robed Men and Ransoms Side Quest
The Of Robed Men and Ransoms side quest becomes available in Chapter 7 after players have arrived in North Corel and spoken with Doctor Sheiran for the first time. They'll then find the job listed on the North Corel Community Noticeboard and should make their way back to Dr. Sheiran's Clinic after accepting it. He'll explain that one of the robed men that he's been looking after has been taken hostage, at which point, players should ask to see the letter. Red XIII will pick up the scent of the kidnappers, after which, players will need to follow him for a while; much as they did with Rhonda's dog Salmon in the When Words Won't Do side quest.
How to Find the Robed Man
Players will need to follow Red XIII for quite a while, defeating the occasional group of fiends as they do. Eventually, they'll come to an outdoorsman who mentions that he saw a Chocobo carriage go by not too long ago. If they keep going a little further, players will find the carriage in question outside the entrance to a dark cave. They'll be able to use the UV-A light to follow the tracks left by the kidnappers here, but all of the paths eventually lead to the same place anyway, so it isn't really necessary. Players should definitely take a right immediately after entering the cave though, as doing so will lead them to a purple chest containing Red XIII's Amethyst Collar.
After a while, players will find themselves in a wide open cavern, at which point, they'll want to follow the outer path up to the northwest corner, where they'll find a switch for the cableway up above them. With the cableway moving again, they can grapple across to the far side of the cavern, where they'll find some yellow climbing beams. Following these will lead them to another switch which can be used to open the shutter down below. From there, it's a simple case of sliding down the pole and heading through to the next area.
How to Beat the Dark Claw in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Upon heading through the shutter, players will find a robed man and a tattooed woman, the latter of whom claims to be another victim of the kidnappers. Players should choose the "Mention that something seems off." option here, which will lead to a fight with a Dark Claw. Unfortunately, the Dark Claw has no major weaknesses, but players can make life a little easier for themselves by evading its Reaper Claws attack. Doing so will pressure the Dark Claw, which makes it much easier to stagger the enemy.
Of Robed Men and Ransoms Rewards
Once the Dark Claw has been defeated, the robed man that the party had been looking for shows up and the kidnappers decide to flee. Players will then be transported back to Doctor Sheiran's Clinic, at which point, the quest will come to an end. As a reward for their efforts, they'll receive Tale of the Red Warrior Vol. II, 10 Party EXP, 800 EXP, and an improved relationship with Red XIII; the latter of which should come in handy for those hoping to go on a Gold Saucer date with the four-legged feline later on in the game.
