Missing: Mr. Birdie is one of 36 side quests that can be found in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and becomes available in the Corel Region from Chapter 9 onward. As its name suggests, the side quest sees Cloud and the rest of the party helping out a group of children whose pet bird has gone missing in the Corel Desert, though the bird in question is not just any bird.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: All Gongaga Region Side Quests (& How to Complete Them)

Five new side quests become available in Chapter 9 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth; four of which take place in the game's Gongaga Region.

Completing the Missing: Mr. Birdie side quest will require players to find four of the Corel Region Lifesprings and take down a fairly challenging fiend. Those who have already spent time exploring the area may have already completed one or two of the objectives without even realizing it, which can make this Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth side quest go a lot more smoothly.

How to Start the Missing: Mr. Birdie Side Quest

Much like the Of Robed Men and Ransoms side quest before it, Missing: Mr. Birdie can be triggered by visiting the North Corel Community Noticeboard at any point after the beginning of Chapter 9. Once they've accepted the job, players should head to the group of nearby children, who will explain that their pet bird has gone missing. They'll ask Cloud and the gang to set some traps for Mr. Birdie out in the Corel Desert in the hopes of bringing him home safely. If they agree to help, players' first task will be getting hold of three Bird Traps, which ends up being a lot easier said than done.

How to Build a Bird Trap (Corel Region Lifespring Locations)

In order to build a Bird Trap, players will first need to get their hands on a Bird Trap Transmuter Chip, which can only be found at the Excavation Intel 2: Deserted Village site. Unfortunately, players won't gain access to this objective until they've found four of the Corel Region's six Lifesprings. Those who've completed The Saga of the Seaside Inn should have already done this, but for those who haven't, the above image gallery should help to pinpoint their locations. There's also an image showing where in the deserted village they can dig up the Bird Trap Transmuter Chip. Players will need to transmute three traps in total, which will require 15 Sprigs of Sage, 9 Handfuls of Mist Seeds, and 9 Sprigs of Majoram; all of which can be found in the surrounding area.

Setting the Traps

Once they've transmuted three Bird Traps, players will need to head to the locations marked on their map and set some bait for Cloud Jr. at each one. With all three traps baited, they'll then have to return to them in a pre-determined order. The first trap has attracted a few Cyclone Drakes, which players can dispose of pretty quickly by using Wind attacks. The bait at the second trap has been eaten by a group Cactrots, which have no elemental weaknesses but are fairly easy to take down with regular attacks, assuming players can catch them first.

Upon their arrival at the third trap, players will find Cloud Junior, although he isn't alone. Lurking behind him is a Gigant Bomb, which players will need to defeat in order to move on with the quest. The Gigant Bomb is weak against ice attacks, so players should prepare accordingly before triggering the fight. In terms of strategy, they'll want to cast Blizard whenever the Gigant Bomb uses Enflame to pressure it and then keep attacking until it becomes staggered. They'll also want to watch out for its Self-Destruct attack, which it sometimes uses when its HP starts getting low.

Missing: Mr. Birdie Rewards

After taking care of the Gigant Bomb, Cloud Jr. will fly back home, at which point, players should follow suit and make their way back to the kids in North Corel. Unsurprisingly, they're delighted to have Mr. Birdie back and even seem to have warmed to Barret and his friends a little; even if the rest of the townsfolk haven't. As a reward for completing the quest, players will receive an orb of Level Boost Materia, 10 Party EXP, 800 EXP, and an improved relationship with Barret, which should come in handy for those hoping to go on a date with the gun-armed Avalanche member later on at the Gold Saucer.
