Like all the other regions in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the Gongaga Region has various secrets that are just waiting to be uncovered. This particular area is unlocked during Chapter 9 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This particular biome is very challenging to traverse, as some places cannot be reached on foot.
As players walk through the Gongaga Region, they will notice some massive mushrooms and vines. They won't be able to use them unless they get their hands on the Forest Chocobo. The path to the Fungi Forest Tower (Activation Intel 5) in the Gongaga Region is also locked and can only be accessed after obtaining the Chocobo.

Where To Find The Forest Chocobo In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
The Jungle Chocobo has the unique ability to travel across certain vines and jump across mushrooms, allowing players to explore new regions. This particular Chocobo can be unlocked by playing the main story. Tifa's group is provided with the Jungle Chocobos by Cissnei, after which the bird will become permanently available.
How To Reach Fungi Forest Tower (Activation Intel 5) In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
After getting their hands on the Chocobo, players can finally reach Activation Intel 5. The tower is marked on the map, so it isn't difficult to see where it is. However, the real challenge is reaching and activating the Fungi Forest Tower.
- First, fast travel to the Secret Gym (it is automatically unlocked during Teach Me, Great Warrior side quest). If you haven't completed the side quest, then head to the location marked in the image below.
- Next, start moving toward the Fungi Forest Tower (Activation 5). On the right side, you will see a water body. Jump in and keep going straight until you see a small piece of land on the left.
- Get on solid ground and start going up the stairs. Keep moving until you have climbed up three flights of stairs.
- Then, instead of going straight, take a left. You should see a small wooden bridge. Cross it, and then jump off the mushroom on the left.
- This will allow players to land near the Activation Intel 5 of the Gongaga Region. There are a few enemies here, but they can be taken down using fire-based attacks and magic.
- After dealing with them, climb up the rope and go down two ladders. This will bring players to the activation switch for the Fungi Forest Tower.
- Press the Triangle button and the Fungi Forest Tower will be successfully activated.
