As in most Final Fantasy games, Summons play an important role in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, with fourteen of them available in total. With its iconic Divine Judgment attack, Alexander is one of the most powerful Summons in the game, though fully upgrading the Summoning Materia will require a bit of patience on the player's part.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: How to Get the Phoenix Summoning Materia (& How to Upgrade It)

Those hoping to unlock and upgrade the Phoenix Summoning Materia will need to wait until Chapter 4 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

This is because players won't be able to find all three Alexander Sanctuaries during the chapter that Alexander first becomes available. In fact, they won't be able to find any of them. As they make their way through the main story of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, though, they'll gain access to a few new areas; allowing them to finally upgrade the Summon to its highest level.

How to Get Alexander in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To unlock Alexander, players will need to defeat the Summon in Chadley's combat simulator. The Alexander battle becomes available at the beginning of Chapter 6 once players have arrived in Costa del Sol. However, they'll have to wait until Chapter 9 before they can fully upgrade the Materia, meaning those hoping to get Alexander sooner will need to fight it at full might, or in its slightly weaker form if they first pay a visit to the first Alexander Sanctuary in Chapter 7.

How to Fully Upgrade Alexander in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

As is the case with most of the other Summons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, players will need to analyze the Summon Crystals in the three Divine Sanctuaries if they're to fully upgrade Alexander. However, there's something of a catch this time around. While The first Alexander Sanctuary can be accessed in Chapter 7, the others are located in the desert section of the Corel Region, which cannot be accessed until Chapter 9.

Alexander Sanctuary 1 Location & Puzzle Solution (Corel Region Divine Intel 1)

The first Alexander Sanctuary is southwest of Costa del Sol and can be reached by swimming through a large body of water that leads through a cave. The Crystal Memory Matrix solution is Triangle, Triangle, Circle, Triangle, Triangle, Circle.

Alexander Sanctuary 2 Location & Puzzle Solution (Corel Region Divine Intel 2)

Alexander Sanctuary 2 is in the Corel Desert, which can only be accessed after players have completed Chapter 8 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. To reach the sanctuary, they'll need to head south from the Corel Desert waypoint. Once there, they should look for some yellow cranes up above them and then use the grappling hook to swing from one to the other. From the second crane, they'll be able to drop down to a rocky path beneath them by pressing the Circle button, which should lead them straight to Alexander Sanctuary 2. The Crystal Memory Matrix solution is Circle, X, Circle, Circle, X, Circle.

Alexander Sanctuary 3 Location & Puzzle Solution (Corel Region Divine Intel 3)

To reach Alexander Sanctuary 3, players should head north from the Corel Desert waypoint and look for some yellow climbing beams on a nearby rockface. They won't be able to reach these beams from the ground, but there's some metal scaffolding nearby that they can latch onto with the grappling hook. If they swing toward the beams, they'll be able to drop down onto them by pressing Circle and can then head into the cave at the top to find Alexander Sanctuary 3. The Crystal Memory Matrix solution is Square, Circle, Circle, Square, Circle, Circle.
