There are 14 Summons available in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Three of these are at the player's disposal right from the get-go, with four available through various DLC bonuses and another six unlocked via Chadley's Combat Simulator. The final Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Summon is Gilgamesh, who serves as a secret Summon of sorts.

How to Get Every Weapon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

There are 49 weapons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, each of which has its own unique ability. This guide will explain how to find them all in order.

In order to unlock the eccentric swordsman, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players will need to find every region's Protorelic to unlock Gilgamesh Island. From there, they'll have to defeat the six Combat Simulator Summons in a trio of three-on-two battles and then beat Gilgamesh in one final epic showdown. None of this is particularly easy, but is arguably well worth the effort.

How to Reach Gilgamesh Island

Players will be able to reach Gilgamesh Island by sailing the Tiny Bronco northeast after reaching Chapter 13 and finding all six Protorelics. Upon getting their hands on the last one, a cutscene will play out showing the island rising out of the ocean, after which, players will just need to head through the watery cave until they arrive at the Gilgamesh Island dock. Their arrival will prompt another cutscene, after which, they'll need to temper the six Protorelics by traveling to three nearby shrines and defeating the Summons associated with them. To do so, though, they'll need to have fully upgraded all six Summons.

How to Beat Titan and Bahamut Arisen (Shrine of the Hazy Moon)

The strategy for defeating Titan and Bahamut Arisen remains largely the same as the ones employed when taking them on solo. In the case of Titan, that means exploiting its weakness to Wind elemental attacks, while Bahamut Arisen can be toppled by using Synergy attacks to pressure it and targeting its wings whenever it uses its particle charge attack. Having to contend with both enemies attacking at once can be tricky, so players should take Titan out first so that they can focus all of their attention on Bahamut Arisen, who is by far the bigger threat of the two. Of course, before they can do any of that, they'll first need to target and destroy the Pulse of Defiance and Pulse of the Land that are protecting this dangerous duo.

How to Beat Phoenix and Kujata (Shrine of the Moonbow)

Phoenix and Kujata are arguably the easiest of the Summons to take care of, but players should make sure to beat Phoenix first. This is because Phoenix's Rebirth Flame attack will revive Kujata and completely restore its health, potentially undoing a decent chunk of the player's hard work. Phoenix is weak against Ice attacks (providing its Flame of Life isn't active), while Kujata's weakness shifts depending on its current form (Fire when it's in its Ice form, Ice when it's in its Fire Form, and Wind when it's in its Lightning Form). Both have a few hard-hitting attacks in their arsenal, but as long as players don't get too complacent and keep their HP from falling to critical levels, they shouldn't have too much trouble with this fight.

How to Beat Odin and Alexander (Shrine of the Full Moon)

Alexander and Odin can seem pretty daunting at first, but beating this deadly duo is nowhere near as tricky as it first appears. The key is to have Cloud focus on Odin, using his Punisher Mode to block and counter his attacks and quickly fill up his stagger gauge. The other two party members should heal Cloud whenever needed and help dish out some additional damage whenever Odin is staggered. Limit Breaks should be saved for when Odin is staggered or for dealing with Alexander's arms if Odin has already been defeated or has temporarily vanished from the battlefield (he does this from time to time).

Alexander can still inflict damage on Cloud while he's off dealing with Odin, but, dodging its attacks while still remaining focused on Odin is surprisingly manageable. Better still, Alexander's arms don't seem to return to the battlefield this time around, so players only need to worry about taking these out once. They will still need to worry about Divine Judgment, but providing they keep their HP above 50%, this shouldn't be enough to wipe the party and trigger Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's sometimes confusing Game Over screen. With Odin and Alexander's arms out of the way, dealing with Alexander isn't too tricky, particularly if players exploit its weakness to Lightning attacks.

How to Beat Gilgamesh in FF7 Rebirth (Gilgamesh Gardens)

After beating all six Summons and successfully tempering the Genji gear, players will be able to head inside the compound and make their way to the Gilgamesh Gardens. There, they'll square off against the eccentric swordsman in an epic showdown, which can prove challenging even when playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Easy Mode. The good news is that Gilgamesh is weak against Fire attacks, so players should consider pairing an orb of Fire Materia with an orb of Elemental Materia in their primary attacker's weapon to inflict some extra damage. He's also weak against a variety of debuffs, including Poison and Debrave.

  • Elemental
  • Poison
  • Fortification
  • Barrier

The aim here is to cast Dispel whenever Gilgamesh activates his buffs and then hit him with a bunch of debuffs to soften him up. For those playing on harder difficulty settings, it's a good idea to apply defensive buffs to the party, with Barrier being particularly useful here. Depending on their setup, players may want to have somebody dedicated to applying more offensive buffs like Haste, Faith, and Bravery. Yuffie is a good option for this role, as she's able to fill her ATB gauge pretty quickly with regular attacks and can dish out some decent damage with Fire Ninjitsu if needed. Tifa works too, if players hook her up with some Elemental Materia.

As with other difficult battles in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, players should focus on keeping their HP high and make sure that they always have an ATB bar or two in reserve for emergency heals (Supreme Swordsman can be pretty devastating depending on which buffs and debuffs are active). In terms of mechanics, players only really need to worry about Gilgamesh buffing himself and taking out his Genji Shield. Performing perfect blocks with Cloud's Punisher Mode can help to pressure Gilgamesh, which causes him to drop one of his weapons and weakens the potency of his attacks, thus making life a little easier for players.

Rewards for Beating Gilgamesh

Upon defeating Gilgamesh for the first time, players will receive the Bladesman of Legend Trophy as well as the Gilgamesh Summoning Materia and the transmuter chips needed to craft the Genji armaments (though these can't actually be used until players hit the highest possible crafting rank). Beating Gilgamesh in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will also unlock Brutal and Legendary challenges in Chadley's Combat Simulator, allowing players to unlock useful rewards such as additional orbs of Magnify and Elemental Materia and the fantastic Gotterdammerung accessory; the latter of which allows players to enter battle with a full Limit Break gauge.
