Table of contents

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth boasts a ridiculous amount of side content, most of which wasn't present in the original game. A lot of it comes in the form of new mini-games and side quests, but there are also a few interesting Discoveries for players to sink their teeth into. One such Discovery becomes available in Chapter 12 and centers around the Pirate King's treasure.

How to Get Every Accessory in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (All FF7 Rebirth Accessories)

The best FF7 Rebirth accessories can make a big difference in battle, but even some of the less desirable ones can prove useful in certain situations.

By finding all four pieces of the Pirate King's treasure, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players will be able to craft a special accessory called Corsair's Compass, which can be incredibly useful both in and out of battle. Pinpointing the exact locations of every Pirate King's Grotto can be a little tricky though, as too can defeating the powerful fiends that protect the treasure.

How to Start the Pirate King's Treasure Discovery in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Players will be able to start looking for the Pirate King's treasure upon reaching Chapter 12 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Before they can do so, though, they'll first need to open the glowing purple chest at the Costa del Sol port, which will trigger a cutscene explaining the premise of the quest. In short, though, players will need to use the map inside the chest to find all four fragments of Corsair's treasure, each of which is guarded by a ferocious fiend.

To find the Pirate King's treasure, players will need to use the Tiny Bronco to navigate the Meridian Ocean and seek out the special docks in the locations marked on Corsair's map. Three of these locations are on the western continent with the other being over to the east. Players will be able to visit the Pirate King's Grottos in any order they like, though should be prepared for a challenging battle upon their arrival at each one.

How to Find the First Piece of the Pirate King's Treasure (Pirate King's Grotto α)

Pirate King's Grotto α is located to the south of Gongaga Port. Players can also reach it by traveling south from the port in Costa del Sol. Before they can claim the Pirate King's treasure there, players will need to defeat the Ogre Raider that's guarding it.

The Ogre Raider is weak against Ice attacks and exploiting this weakness enough will eventually pressure it. Players should aim to do this as quickly as possible, as the Ogre Raider grows stronger the longer the fight goes on.

How to Find the Second Piece of the Pirate King's Treasure (Pirate King's Grotto β)

Players will be able to find Pirate King's Grotto β by traveling south from Under Junon Port. The treasure is at the foot of the lighthouse that players visit in the Hardest Sell side quest. Upon their arrival at the dock, players will need to take on the Brineborn Dragon that's guarding the Pirate King's treasure.

How to Beat the Brineborn Demon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

The Brineborn Demon is weak against Fire attacks. Like the Ogre Raider before it, players should aim to take the fiend down as quickly as possible as it will cast Graviga after a while. Players can prevent this by staggering the Brineborn Demon while it's in its Counterstance, though it's better to take it down before it has a chance to switch stances if possible. The good news is that the fiend will automatically become pressured when it does switch to Counterstance, which makes staggering it a whole lot easier.

How to Find the Third Piece of the Pirate King's Treasure (Pirate King's Grotto γ)

Pirate King's Grotto γ can be found by traveling northeast from Costa del Sol Port. Players should keep their eyes peeled for a narrow inlet between the main continent on their left and the large island to its right and then look to their left. The third piece of the Pirate King's treasure is being guarded by a powerful fiend known as the Hueyacoatl.

The Hueyacoatl is weak against Wind attacks, so players should prepare accordingly before approaching the fiend. In order to pressure it, players will need to attack it while it's in its Supercharged state, though doing so will cause it to unleash a paralyzing bolt of lightning. With this in mind, players should be ready to dodge immediately after attacking.

How to Find the Fourth Piece of the Pirate King's Treasure (Pirate King's Grotto δ)

Pirate King's Grotto δ is to the northeast of Pirate King's Grotto γ near the northern tip of another large island. To get their hands on the Pirate King's treasure that's hidden there, players will need to lay waste to a Sea Dragon.

The Sea Dragon is weak against Lightning attacks. In fact, using Lightning attacks is the only way to fill its stagger gauge, so players may want to pair an orb of Lightning Materia with an orb of Elemental Materia in their primary attacker's weapon. It's also a good idea to give somebody an orb of Poison Materia, as poisoning the Sea Dragon while it's using its Galvanizing Flames attack will not only quench its flames, but also pressure it.

How to Get Corsair's Compass in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

After collecting all four pieces of the Pirate King's treasure, players will be able to craft Corsair's Compass, which they can do via the Accessories tab of the Item Transmuter menu. While equipped, Corsair's Compass partitions the ATB gauge into three sections for a short period after players have used five different types of commands in battle. However, its main purpose is a lot more useful.

How to Use Corsair's Compass to Find Pirate Jetsam

After crafting Corsair's Compass, players will occasionally see a golden arrow appear above the Tiny Bronco while they're sailing it around the Meridian Ocean. Following this arrow will lead them to glowing purple crates, which contain pieces of Pirate Jetsam. These rare crafting materials are needed for enhanced accessory upgrades, making them incredibly useful for players. It's worth noting that players can still find Pirate Jetsam without Corsair's Compass, but having the Pirate King's treasure makes obtaining it a whole lot easier. Players should also keep in mind that they won't actually need to equip Corsair's Compass for the golden arrow to show up while they're sailing around in the Tiny Bronco.
