Powerful foes are the cornerstones in which the combat system in Final Fantasy 16 is built on, and that allows players to truly feel the power when controlling Clive Rosfield. While the Dominant of Fire is always a great fighter, it doesn't mean that enemies will just roll over and let the crown prince have his way, and that's part of the fun.

Beyond just the regular enemies and bosses that lie in wait as part of the main narrative of Final Fantasy 16, there are also worthy combatants out there in the world of Valisthea that are worth seeking out for both a test of mastery and a source of valuable rewards. For players seeking the solution to the Notorious Mark that is A Hill to Die On, here's where and what to do when faced with the scary Fastitocalon.

First of all, players can obtain this bounty hunt during the Riddle of the Sands main quest. To locate the Notorious Mark, get over to The Dhalmekian Republic, and look towards the northeastern corner of the Velkroy Desert. It is here where the Fastitocalon await.

Although it is only a B-rank Notorious Mark, the Fastitocalon is not a foe to take lightly. It hits really hard and is quite agile to boot, and its shell prevents certain angles of attacks from working. As such, players need to take heed when fighting this creature.

  • At range, the Fastitocalon uses its Water Cannon attack, which shoots projectiles towards Clive in a straight line. Avoid them or use Heatwave to turn the tides.

  • Close up, the enemy uses both its head and its shell as melee attacks. Both are telegraphed quite clearly, so be ready to dodge and counterattack.
  • The Fastitocalon loves to spin using its shell as well, and once it winds up, watch out for the speed at which it comes towards Clive. Avoiding this attack gives the best window for players to deal damage to the beast.
  • Lastly, when its health gets below half, it will use Tetsudo Trompe. Watch out for its smashes from above, as well as the water geysers that appear on the ground.

Knowing all of these patterns will help players be more than ready for the Fastitocalon. Again, it pays to be patient rather than reckless, and smart use of all three Eikons and Eikonic Abilities will make the battle go by much faster.

Eliminating Fastitocalon in the Hill to Die On Notorious Mark bounty hunt will see players pocket 1265 XP, 65 Ability Points, 10000 Gil, and 30 Renown. Also, there are also two Scarletite crafting materials to pick up.

Final Fantasy 16 is exclusively available for PlayStation 5.
