With Final Fantasy 16 making combat such a key part of the experience, it allows Square Enix to design all kinds of enemies that will challenge players in different areas. Swift foes bring a test of anticipation and timing, hardier enemies usher in a war of attrition, and there are others who can simply do everything, requiring players to be in tip-top condition in order to win.

This is predominantly the case when it comes to pursuing the many Notorious Marks at the Hunt Board in Final Fantasy 16, with enemies taking on much more aggressive guises as well as the arrival of never-before-seen foes that up the challenge accordingly. For players hoping to defeat The Wailing Banshee, Gizamaluk, in Final Fantasy 16, this is a great place to start.

Where to Find Gizamaluk, The Wailing Banshee, in Final Fantasy 16

The Gizamaluk hunt will only become accessible at the Hunt Board after players complete the side quest, An Inconvenient Truth. After talking to Nektar, the journey to finding this Notorious Mark will lead players to Waloed. Look for the village of Garnick in the Vidargraes area in Waloed, where this enemy will swoop down to start the fight.

How to Beat Gizamaluk in Final Fantasy 16

Although Gizamaluk bears some resemblance to the other harpy, Aruna the Angel of Death, that players may have fought earlier in the game, this A-rank beast is a whole other ball game when it comes to ways it can hurt Clive. Take note of the following:

  • Gizamaluk's mastery of the elements allows it to use wind magic in all sorts of ways. Getting caught by an attack can easily lead to more dangerous combos, so prioritize defense over offense.
  • This means magical projectiles and AoE wind attacks are going to be common; always make sure to get out of the way to stay healthy and heal up when the need arises.
  • In terms of melee attacks, Gizamaluk prefers quick swipes, with combos usually lasting for three attacks. Their timing is quite standard, so keep dodging and counter once it's done.
  • At low health, Gizamaluk uses Storm Chaser, which causes exploding spots to appear on the ground. While avoiding those, look out as the enemy will lunge towards Clive a total of three times.

A combination of ranged magic attacks and Eikonic Abilities is every player's best bet to bring down this foe. Any hit by Storm Chaser will tear a big chunk of health away, so always be on the lookout.

Emerging victorious over Gizamaluk in Final Fantasy 16 will net players 3000 XP, 80 Ability Points, 9700 Gil, and 45 Renown. In addition, crafting materials in the form of 10 Magicked Ash, 20 Sharp Fangs, and one Clouded Eye will be added to the inventory.

Final Fantasy 16 is exclusively available for PlayStation 5.
