To find this particular hunt, players will have to progress to the Brotherhood main quest before heading to the hideaway. After speaking to Nektar, the hunt will direct players to Dhalemkia, with Thanatos lying in wait at Titan's Wake. Approach with caution.
How to Beat Thanatos in Final Fantasy 16
Thanatos' appearance as a golem might make players underestimate it, but its nickname should already sound warning bells. This is an enemy that will hit hard and is surprisingly quick as well. To stand a chance of besting this foe, heed these warnings:
- It is always important to remember that the basic melee and ranged attacks of the enemy can still cause considerable harm, so always be ready to dodge at the slightest notice.
- When the enemy looks like it is charging up a punch, move away to avoid the explosion that is incoming.
- When Thanatos uses Spirits Without, it is readying to fire off a huge laser beam just in front of it. Take advantage by moving to its back and unleashing all the powerful Eikonic Abilities.
- Thanatos will also use Destrudo, which sees it leaping into the air several times. Upon landing, it creates energy rings that spread out to hit Clive. While jumping to avoid the attack, be wary of random glowing circles as well that will explode. After the attack seemingly ends, Thanatos also rushes Clive, so be prepared.
- As its health reduces, Thanatos will use an ability that sees blue energy sigils appear around the arena that will explode. This is a dangerous time, so focus on dodging the explosions and other attacks it uses before resuming the offensive.
As usual, the key is to chip away at its Will gauge and cause Thanatos to be Staggered before using Clive's Limit Break and abilities to deal heavy damage. It is also recommended to dodge toward the enemy when it is using its ranged attack to avoid lasting harm while closing the distance to the golem.
By defeating Thanatos, players will grab 10350 XP, 110 Ability Points, 22950 Gil, and 45 Renown. In addition, the important Darksteel will be added to the inventory for crafting.
