In a world where conflict is brewing on all fronts and nowhere is safe, it is no wonder that the people of Valisthea find themselves at the mercy of bandits and other evildoers. Thankfully, Clive Rosfield and his allies are on the case in Final Fantasy 16, taking time out from their otherwise busy schedules to deal out some justice of their own.

One of the ways for the crew to do that is to bring down Notorious Marks, as identified by the populace of Valisthea. The rewards from doing so are always worthwhile, and for players hoping to take on the bounty hunt for The Nine of Knives in Final Fantasy 16, be sure to prepare adequately using this guide.

Where to Find The Nine of Knives in Final Fantasy 16

First accessible during the main quest, Out of the Shadow, players should head to Dhalmekia, and more specifically, the area known as The Jaw. The Nine of Knives can be found on the main trail in the middle of The Jaw, so be wary upon approach.

How to Beat The Nine of Knives in Final Fantasy 16

The Nine of Knives is an enemy type that players have fought before, but this time around, he is much more aggressive and harder hitting, so caution is advised. To beat this enemy, here's what to look out for:

  • The Nine of Knives is a capable melee fighter and tends to attack swiftly even if Clive is at a distance. Watch out for lunges, particularly the spinning lunge, with dodging a priority. The timing of these attacks will vary, so play more defensively if possible.
  • Further away, the enemy can use either Poison Mist or Smokescreen. The former will see the Nine of Knives breathing out a damaging mist right in front of him, so move to the side and punish him. The latter causes smoke to appear near Clive, which will explode shortly after. Move away from the area immediately and watch out for a follow-up attack.

  • The Nine of Knives will also start using the Undermine special attack when his health is past half. This will allow him to burrow into the ground and tunnel straight towards Clive. Keep moving away from the smoke cloud produced during the attack and counter once the foe misses.

While the Nine of Knives can cause plenty of damage if his attacks connect, there are still many opportunities for players to counterattack upon successful dodges. Use Eikonic Abilities to whittle down both his health and Will meter and bring the pain once he is Staggered. Keep your health up and the time those dodges well, and this killer will soon meet his end.

Beating the Nine of Knives will reward players with 5750 XP, 90 Ability Points, 10500 Gil, and 30 Renown. Furthermore, there are also prizes of 25 Wyrrite and two Meteorite as crafting materials.

Final Fantasy 16 is exclusively available for PlayStation 5.
