One of the most common fantasy tropes is of dragons in medieval times, and in Final Fantasy 16, players will often meet these beasts in combat. With their size and oftentimes, terrifying ability to do damage, it makes perfect sense for them to be the gatekeeper of progress for the main storyline in this JRPG.

However, there are also optional battles against dragons that will challenge players on a whole other level. One of them will come via the Notorious Mark bounty hunt activity back in the hideaway, and for players hoping to bring down the S-rank mark known as Svarog as part of the Ruin Reawakened hunt in Final Fantasy 16, here are all the important details to know.

Where to Find Svarog in Final Fantasy 16 (Ruin Awakened)

The bounty hunt will only unlock once players get to the main quest, Fire in the Sky. Following that, head to Nektar and take up the task to eliminate Svarog. The monstrous beast can be found in Sanbreque and, more specifically, in the southern end of Mornebrume. Fast travel to the Caer Norvent Glorieuse Gate Obelisk and head southeast from there.

How to Beat Svarog in Final Fantasy 16

With this monster being an S-rank opponent, its high level dictates that only players strong enough or skilled at combat should challenge it. Otherwise, it could be a bloodbath waiting to happen. That said, knowing the following tips will make it more of a fair fight against Svarog.

  • As a dragon, Svarog is capable of powerful melee attacks with its claws and wings. When near the enemy, always be wary of being caught by these attacks. The same goes for any flame/laser attacks. Their timing is still quite generous, so dodge at will.
  • When Svarog uses Blazing Legion, it will call down a wave of floating fireballs that approach Clive. Their slow speed means navigating around them is easy, just don't get too impatient.
  • Red Dawn sees two flaming pillars gradually moving toward Clive in a narrowing fashion. Either sidestep them early or dodge towards Svarog instead near the end to close the gap.

  • Another dangerous attack is Embroil, which sees a falling fireball hit the ground before becoming a ring of fire that expands outwards. This then turns into a cluster of smaller rings that will explode after. Avoid this attack at all costs, first by dodging and then jumping to avoid the growing ring before dodging yet again.

Like all other difficult fights against tougher opponents, being able to outlast them is the real key. Once an attack of Svarog misses, get up close and use Eikons and their Eikonic Abilities to damage the boss before retreating to fight another day. Heatwave and Will o' the Wykes can be particularly useful at absorbing attacks and giving Clive the chance to counter, so work that into the rotation as much as possible. Always go for Svarog's head whenever possible to take advantage of the weak point as well.

Beating Svarog as part of the Ruin Reawakened Notorious Mark bounty hunt will see players earn 25000 XP, 300 Ability Points, 30000 Gil, and 60 Renown. In addition, crafting materials like one Orichalcum and one Amber will also drop for the winner together with one Empty Shard and one Fallen Enigma.
