Final Fantasy 16's Eikons each wield the power of an Element. Bahamut is the Eikon of Light, and many of his attacks manifest as energy bolts and beams that burn and tear through foes. This makes Bahamut a very powerful Eikon indeed, and after obtaining his power Clive is able to utilize many of his attacks.

One such attack in Final Fantasy 16 is Gigaflare, Bahamut's energy beam attack, which can pierce through foes and deal considerable damage during its uptime. The attack can leave Clive Vulnerable if a foe manages to evade the beam and attack while he is firing, so positioning is important when using Gigaflare in combat.

How to Use Gigaflare

Gigaflare, being Bahamut's most powerful attack (accessible by Clive, at least), costs quite a lot of AP to unlock (Costing 2730, then 3250 to upgrade, and another 6000 to master). The attack is an energy beam that can be directed using the right stick after firing allowing players to focus on a single target or sweep the beam to catch multiple foes. The beam also pierces through enemies and thus allows players to strike an entire line of foes at once with proper positioning.

Gigaflare, like many of the more expensive Eikonic abilities, dishes out incredible damage and can be used on staggered enemies to take advantage of the damage multiplier and perform the Eikonic Punishment technique. It can also be immensely powerful for taking out groups of enemies, using good positioning and the ability to direct the beam after firing can catch tons of enemies in the attack.

Obviously, it performs particularly well if the enemy are unfortunate enough to be grouped close together or, ideally, in a line. This can often be achieved by taking a moment to reposition and line up the enemy before firing the beam. Players might consider staggering a larger foe and then repositioning Clive, so the beam is fired through that foe and into weaker enemies in the area to maximize efficiency.

As mentioned previously, Gigaflare shouldn't be used when there are enemies behind Clive as they'll be able to attack Clive and possibly even knock him down to end the attack early. Fortunately, the beam can be canceled early by pressing the circle button which will allow players to return to dodging and attacking normally if needed. This will, of course, result in less damage being dealt than if the beam had been fired for its full duration.
