Clive gains access to a variety of powerful Eikonic abilities while progressing through Final Fantasy 16's main story, but not all of them can be used upon acquiring an Eikon; some must be purchased before they can be used in combat, and, to do this, players must first acquire the necessary Ability Points. There are many ways to acquire Ability Points, but if players wish to unlock the Flames of Rebirth ability, they will need to obtain an extremely large sum.

Clive may not be able to transform into a Phoenix, but he is more than capable of calling upon the fiery bird to unleash some truly devastating attacks. The Flames of Rebirth is arguably the most powerful Phoenix ability Clive can acquire, but he won't be able to unlock it until they have reached a specific point in Final Fantasy 16's story.

What Does The Flames Of Rebirth Ability Do?

When activated, the Flames of Rebirth ability surrounds Clive with fire and deals damage to all enemies within range, making it a must-have for when players are faced with large enemy groups. As well as this, initiating the attack will also replenish some of Clive's health if he happens to be running low.

The only real downside to the Flames of Rebirth is that, once it has been used, players must wait a pretty long time before it can be used again; if players wish to use the ability more frequently, they should equip The Breath of Fire (Flames of Rebirth) accessory, which will reduce the ability's cooldown by twelve seconds.

How To Unlock Flames Of Rebirth

The Flames of Rebirth ability becomes available upon completing the Sunrise, Sunset main quest and beginning Lost in a Fog. For Clive to gain access to it, players must open the Abilities tab in the pause menu, hover over the Flames of Rebirth bubble, and hold the X button down.

Unlocking the Flames of Rebirth ability requires players to spend 1,695 Ability Points, and once they do, it can be assigned to Clive's Eikon loadout via the Gear and Eikons tab.

How To Upgrade And Master Flames Of Rebirth

At its base level, the Flames of Rebirth ability is already quite an impressive attack, but players can increase how effective it is by upgrading it via the Abilities tab. The first upgrade costs 2,390 Ability Points and allows Clive to perform an additional attack upon activating the ability.

Mastering the Flames of Rebirth ability requires players to part with 4,250 Ability Points. With the upgrade unlocked, the ability can be assigned to a different Eikon. This is an extremely pricey upgrade; if players plan to keep the Phoenix assigned to Clive, they should avoid buying it.

If players find that they are unsatisfied with the Flames of Rebirth ability, they can Reset it in the Abilities tab and reclaim the Ability Points they spent on it.

Final Fantasy 16 is available exclusively for PlayStation 5.
