Two new DLCs for Final Fantasy 16 were officially unveiled at 2023's Game Awards. To the joy of many, the first DLC, entitled " Echoes of the Fallen ," released shortly after the event; The Rising Tide is set to debut in Spring.

With the Echoes of the Fallen DLC, fans hoping to uncover what waits behind the mysterious door in The Dim can finally do so, but only after they reach a particular part in the story and complete a set of side quests. For those unsure, this guide clarifies what needs to be done in order for them to open the door in The Dim and begin the Echoes of the Fallen DLC.

Once players have access to the Echoes of the Fallen DLC, they will need to complete a few objectives before they can access what waits for them in The Dim. Thankfully, an outline of what needs to be done was made available by Square Enix, and the process is pretty straightforward.

  • Players must reach "Back to their Origin," the forty-sixth quest in the main story.
  • During this quest, they must complete the "Priceless" side quest, which unlocks upon completing "Cut from the Cloth," "Phoenix, Heal Thyself," and "Where There's a Will."

Once these four side quests have been completed, Clive can travel to The Hideaway and speak with Charon to begin the Echoes of the Fallen DLC.

Clive will then be prompted to speak with Joshua, after which he can travel to Port Isolde to continue the story. Interacting with the NPC here will truly begin the Echoes of the Fallen DLC and will prevent players from using the fast travel feature until they reach the door in The Dim.

Once the conversation ends, Clive can follow the path through the Quietsands until he reaches the Bewit Bridge. After a short cutscene, he can continue forward to The Auldhyl Docks. where players can take the path to the north to find the traders.

After a battle with some Sharp Shards, Clive can continue north toward Sorrowise, where players will be treated to another brief cutscene. The traders can be found at the northernmost point of this area, but approaching them results in a Lv. 90 Akashic Bighorn attacking.

Upon defeating the Bighorn, players will regain access to the fast travel system and can use it to reach Eastpool. From here, players should proceed north until they encounter a group of Goblins. Since The Dim prevents Clive from using magic, he will need to rely on physical attacks in order to defeat the enemies here.
