Like any good story, a pivotal event in Final Fantasy 16 only leads to more riveting reveals and questions, and that can be said of the many side quests in the JRPG. As players continue Clive's journey and grow the hideaway, its denizens will require more help, and in return, the protagonist can expect to receive more and more valuable rewards.

With crafting being such an integral part of making Clive stronger, the hunt for rare recipes and the components to make them should always be a priority. This is why when the opportunity to bring down the Gobermouch in Final Fantasy 16 presents itself, players are highly recommended to take on the challenge.

Head back to the hideaway and interact with the Hunt Board to add Gobermouch to the list of enemies to take down during the main quest, Brotherhood. To locate this rogue goblin, players will have to head to Waloed, specifically the highest point in Eistla.

Another Notorious Mark that has no Will meter, just like Dread Comet, Gobermouch is quite a straightforward fight against a goblin, which is something players should be used to by now. However, it pays to be always prepared, so watch out for these attacks:

  • Gobermouch can use its club for a variety of swings and smashes, but they can be easily nullified using Titanic Block.
  • The same goes for when Gobermouch uses Little Swing, which sees it spin quickly in a beeline for Clive. Either dodge or use Titanic Block to counter.

  • The most dangerous attack that the enemy can use is Goblin Punch, which is impervious to the effects of Titanic Block. The entirety of the attack, which comes in three parts, will hurt Clive significantly if it hits. It is highly advisable to get far away from Gobermouch so there is more time to prepare the dodges.

Aside from the power of Goblin Punch, the limited area of the arena is another factor that players should take note of. Always make sure there is room to maneuver around so as not to get caught in a bind when the pressure gets turned up.

Removing the nuisance that is Gobermouch will see players rewarded with 4800 XP, 90 Ability Points, 15000 Gil, and 30 Renown. More importantly, it will drop the Primitive Battlehorn, which is a key crafting ingredient for the Gotterdammerung, the strongest sword in the first playthrough.

Final Fantasy 16 is exclusively available for PlayStation 5.
