RPG side quests can often be a bit of a mixed bag, and that is definitely the case with Final Fantasy 16. Some of the game's side content can be incredibly engaging, forcing players to think carefully about their actions or putting their combat skills to the ultimate test. Others, however, can be incredibly mundane, with players simply needing to press a few buttons in order to get the job done. Unfortunately, "Food for Thought" is one of the latter.

Unlocked fairly early on in Final Fantasy 16 shortly after players have arrived at Cid's Hideaway, the "Food for Thought" side quest requires very little effort to complete, nor will players need to think too much about how best to carry out their duties. Thankfully, though, the reward for completing "Food for Thought" is actually pretty good, making it well worth the small amount of effort that players will need to put in.

"Food for Thought" first becomes available during the "Hide, Hideaway" main story mission of Final Fantasy 16 once players have been prompted to make their way to the Greatwood. To trigger it, they'll need to speak with Kenneth, the proprietor of the Fat Chocobo diner. He'll ask Clive to deliver some soup to three of his patrons, which really is as simple as it sounds.

After accepting the quest, players will receive three bowls of salt broth, which they'll need to give to the three customers marked by the yellow exclamation points. While standing close to the patrons in question, players will be given a prompt to place the bowl in front of them and can do so by holding down the X button for a second or two. Once all three customers have been served, players can then return to Kenneth to claim their reward.

Kenneth seems to be pretty pleased with Clive's skills as a waiter and will hand over 500 Gil as promised. Players will also get 5 XP, ten Wyrrite, and an opportunity to open up Kenneth's treasure coffer, which is to the left of the bar. Inside the coffer, they'll find the Badge of Mettle accessory, which increases Clive's Defense stat by ten points while equipped. Though it eventually becomes outclassed, it should prove to be useful for the next few main story missions that lie ahead.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
