As far as main stories go, Final Fantasy 16 boasts one of the best that the franchise has to offer, with plenty of exciting twists and turns to keep players engaged. For those looking to take a short break from the excitement, the various side quests that are available to players offer up a welcome change of pace. Most of the game's side content can be completed in just a matter of minutes, as is the case with the "False Friends" side quest.

The quest sees Final Fantasy 16 players tasked with tracking down a runaway Bearer, which ends up being a lot easier than it sounds. This is because the game leaves a rather convenient trail of breadcrumbs that players can follow right to their target. The reward for finding the Bearer is pretty decent too, so players would do well to complete the "False Friends" side quest before making their way to Eastpool.

Players will first be able to trigger "False Friends" after completing the "Homecoming" main story quest. To do so, they'll need to speak with a sellsword named Brennan, who can be found tending to his Chocobo outside The Golden Stables in Martha's Rest, right near the entrance to the Bloodaxe Barracks. Brennan will ask Clive to help him track down a Bearer named Norreis, and, if players agree, the hunt for the missing Bearer will begin.

To get started, players should head across the wooden bridge opposite Brennan and speak with the off-duty sellsword who can be seen gazing off into the distance. He'll mention that he saw somebody heading into the bog with a lamp, after which, players should continue across the bridge toward the quest marker down beneath them. Eventually, they'll find the aforementioned lamp, which will lead them straight to a nearby wooden building where Norreis can be found.

After speaking with Norreis, players should fast travel back to the Obelisk at Martha's Rest and then return and speak to Brennan. Ronald remains eager to bring Norreis to justice, but some quick thinking from Clive ensures that he doesn't get a chance to. Once he storms off, Brennan will thank Clive for helping Norreis and had over ten Magicked Ash and a Meteorite as a reward. Players will also get 22 XP and 100 Ability Points for their troubles.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
