There are plenty of side quests in Final Fantasy 16, some of which are a lot more engaging than others. "Beast Against Beast" falls somewhere in the middle of the two extremes, as although it is a fairly simple side quest when all's said and done, it does at least involve a spot of combat to help set it apart from some of the many fetch quests that the game has to offer.

Players will be able to trigger the side quest in the Greensheaves area of the Grand Duchy of Rosaria location, which they'll need to pass through as part of the "Holding On" main story mission. Completing "Beast Against Beast" actually takes Final Fantasy 16 players closer to their eventual destination, so there's no real reason not to complete it the first time they pass through the area.

Just as it did for the "What a Bird Wants" side quest, the main questline will guide players directly past the quest giver for "Beast Against Beast". Players will find Fredric near a broken archway as they make their way through Greensheaves toward Eastpool during the "Holding On" main story mission. The hapless hunter will ask players to slay some hungry wolves who have been eating his bait and then speak with a man named Brice a little further up ahead.

Assuming they agree to help, players should follow the path in front of them until they reach the aforementioned wolves, at which point, they'll be forced to slay them. The hungry beasts shouldn't cause too much trouble, particularly if players hit them with one or two of Phoenix's Eikonic Abilities. Even with a brute force hack and slash strategy, the wolves should all be taken care of within a minute or two, at which point, players can continue onward to find Brice.

Like Fredric and the wolves, Brice can be found right on the main path just as players enter the Broken Hilt part of the map. He's labeled as "Vexed Villager" rather than "Brice", but speaking with him will complete the side quest all the same. He'll hand over ten Wyrrite and a Meteorite, with players also getting 22 XP and 1,000 Gil for their hard work. They'll then be free to continue on to Eastpool, where both an old friend and a new outfit await them.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
