After a brief respite at the Hideaway in the previous main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16, Clive continues his pursuit of Hugo Kupka. While Clive was able to take Kupka's powers, he was unable to land the killing blow. Knowing that Kupka is too dangerous to be left alive, Clive follows a lead while being accompanied by his uncle and Torgal.

While heading toward Drake's Fang, Clive begins his search for an old ally of Cid's known as Ruzena Dalimil. Of course, finding this ally is only the start of this quest. Here is what Final Fantasy 16 players can expect as they begin "Riddle of the Sands".

Go to the Dalimil Inn

As "Riddle of the Sands" begins, players will find themselves at the start of a large desert. This space is far more open than other areas Final Fantasy 16 players have encountered, and it is filled with enemies to fight and items to pick up. Go through the Fallen ruins and go south toward the red waypoint. Upon arriving at the Dalimil Inn a cutscene will be triggered. Following a brief battle with weak enemies, another cutscene will play. From there go south to see a gate blocking the way forward.

Find Ruzena Dalimil

Clive reasons that the best way to get past the guarded gate is by seeing if Ruzena Dalimil can aid them. To learn more, speak with two townspeople that are marked with a red waypoint. After that, follow the red waypoint to speak to another villager. After gaining some useful information, go to the baths and speak with Ferda to progress the story. Go to the spot marked by the red waypoint to trigger a cutscene followed by a battle against a group of enemies. Once the battle is over, continue following the red waypoint toward the Lock of Leisure to trigger another cutscene.

Follow the Crystals

L'ubor, the ally who once went by the name of Ruzena Dalimil, asks for a favor in return for his aid. Speak with the three NPCs marked by the red waypoint. Once enough information have been gathered, speak to the woman outside the inn and then go up the stairs outside to find Byron. At the top of the stairs, go left and then left again to locate Byron. Speak to him and then follow the red waypoint outside the Desert Gate toward the rendezvous point. Riding to the rendezvous point via chocobo is recommended, as it is a fair distance away from town.

At the rendezvous point, there will be a brief cutscene before players fight a group of enemies. Look for the casters and deal with them first, as they will attempt to cast cure on their allies. After a cutscene plays out, head to the south gate.

Head to Drake's Fang

With the gate now open, Final Fantasy 16 players are free to proceed to the main objective. There will be several cutscenes along the way. After the cutscenes are finished, the world map will open up. The next main scenario quest begins once players travel to Drake's Fang.
