Thanks to the efforts of Clive and his allies in Final Fantasy 16, there is only one Mothercrystal left in Storm. Of course, Drake's Tail will be much more difficult to reach as it is heavily guarded by the Empire, and they will be looking for Cid the Outlaw. So as a cover, Clive and Jill pretend to be mercenaries protecting Goetz. Of course, the journey to Drake's Tail is not an easy one.

The next main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16 puts an obstacle in front of players. The way to the next Mothercrystal is heavily guarded, and only those who have a trader's pass will be able to go any further. This walkthrough will give players an idea as to what to expect as they go through the main scenario quest "Onward".

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Return to the Hideway

final-fantasy-16-onward2-1

While it may seem like a strange thing to do, players will want to go back to the Hideaway once "Onward" begins. The reason for this is because two side quests open up that give players incredible rewards. The first is "Weird Science" which increases how many Potions and High Potions that players can carry. The second is "Blacksmith's Blues II". This second side quest gives players the pattern for crafting Excalibur, a weapon that will be a substantial upgrade at this point in the game.

Go to Boklad

final-fantasy-16-onward3

After taking care of the side quests mentioned above, head back to Laetny's Cleft to continue the story. Follow the path toward Boklad. Along the way, players will be ambushed by a group of bandits. One of them is a larger enemy called Desert Djinn. Despite the fancy name, he is just a glorified mini-boss that can be easily beaten as long as players can dodge his attacks and deplete his Will Gauge.

After the bandits are dead, destroy the barricade and continue onward to Boklad. While going through the Fallen ruins, players will be attacked by a small group of Fallen constructs guarding the area. Since they are weak enemies, it won't take players long to finish them off and continue up the path to trigger a series of cutscenes. Once the cutscenes are over, continue to follow the road to Boklad. Upon arriving at Boklad, the obelisk will activate and Final Fantasy 16 players will be able to fast travel here later.

Find Goetz

final-fantasy-16-onward4

Keep going north to trigger a cutscene. After that, begin searching the area for Goetz. Turn around and go left. Look for Goetz under a canopy as depicted in the image above. Goetz is in a bad way, as his trader's pass has been stolen. Follow the red waypoint to go toward the Crimson Caravans to trigger a cutscene. Eloise has information that will help players get the trader's pass back.

To Catch a Thief

To begin with, follow the red waypoint north toward the furniture maker. After speaking with him, talk to the fishmonger that is left of the plaza. Next, speak to the nearby children. After speaking to two children, go southeast out of Boklad to find Honza. As players get close enough, a cutscene will trigger. Go back toward the Boklad Markets and talk to the Chocobo Tamer and then take a right to get into the pen where Honza is trying to hide. This triggers another cutscene. The side quest "To Catch a Thief" ends at this point.

Blood From the Stones

final-fantasy-16-onward6

After a brief misunderstanding, players will work with Eloise's brother to find the Cast Stones. Go south toward the Steps of the Forgotten. Upon entering the red circle, players will get into a fight with a group of bandits. After they have been slain, keep going south and kill another group. Follow the red waypoint west. Players will encounter the group leading the Cast Stones. Kill this group to progress the story.

To expedite the process, fast travel back to the Boklad Markets. Speak with Eloise to complete this quest. After that, find Goetz and give him his trader's pass back. This triggers another cutscene that brings the current main scenario quest to a close after several cutscenes.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now on PlayStation 5.
