The only way for Clive and his allies to work towards their goals of destroying the other Mothercrystals is if they remove Hugo Kupka from the picture. Clive knows this, and after a minor detour in the previous main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16, he is closing in on Kupka.

While the next main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16 is fairly short, it features a lot of combat and boss fights. Players will want to stay on their toes, as the foes they face will not be easily defeated. Here is what players can expect as they begin the main scenario quest "Into the Darkness".

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Explore the Mines

As this main scenario quest begins, follow the mine cart tracks. Fight the group of orcs that are nearby and then crawl under the barricade to proceed. Deal with another group of enemies and then use the nearby lever to open the large door. In the next area there is a door that is partially open. Go through this narrow space to reach the next area. Several groups of enemies will attack Final Fantasy 16 players. While some of the orcs will use magic, they are easily dealt with.

Pull the lever to the right of the door and continue to follow the tracks. To the left is a chest containing loot and a Potion a few feet away. The tracks lead to a dead end, so take a right and open the door. This door leads to stairs and a change of scenery. Kill the orcs guarding this area and continue going up the stairs. Make sure to be fully healed up before going any further, though.

How to Beat Orcish Warlord

A massive orc awaits players in the room at the top of the stairs. While not considered a boss, players should still treat it like one. Keep an eye out for his attacks, and dodge them whenever possible. The Orcish Warlord will also teleport around periodically. Keep damaging the Orcish Walord while dodging its attacks, and it will fall before long.

How to Beat Undertaker

With the large enemy dealt with, pull the lever to open the door and progress the story. At the entrance to the castle are several items on the ground. Grab them all and proceed toward the gate. The previous fight could be considered a warm-up, as Final Fantasy 16 players are soon attacked by a boss called Undertaker. Undertaker relies primarily on melee attacks. It will charge towards players and will also slam its fist down onto the ground.

One attack that players will want to watch out for is called Spirits Within. When the boss casts this spell, it unleashes a beam of energy from its chest. Stay behind the boss to avoid getting hit by this attack.

As Undertaker goes under 40% health, it will cast Exhume. This will shoot projectiles up from the ground, so watch carefully and dodge this attack. From there, Undertaker will repeat all of its attacks until it is defeated.

Explore the Castle

With Undertaker vanquished, players are free to explore the castle. Before going up the stairs, go right and loot the chest. Though the castle may look empty, players should expect to be attacked by spectral enemies like wraiths and revenants. Go through another set of doors to reach the throne room. At this point, players will get a tutorial about the Bravery ability that enemies will periodically use. Per the tutorial, quickly defeat any enemy that has been buffed by Bravery as they will do much more damage if they are left unchecked.

Go through the door on the right and then up several fights of stairs. In the next large hallway, players will encounter a group of enemies that include a Lich. This Lich is exactly like the one encountered during "Buried Memories", so players should have an idea as to what they are dealing with. Once it is clear, go through the large double doors. Loot the chest in Kupka's room and then go through the door.

Head down the stairs and approach the inner sanctum. Deal with the large group of enemies guarding the inner sanctum and go through the door. But be ready for a fight, as Hugo Kupka awaits players in the chamber ahead.

How to Beat Titan

final-fantasy-16-into-the-darkness7

It's been awhile since Final Fantasy 16 players have seen an Eikon battle. Just like in previous battles, the main key to winning is to dodge attacks unleashed by the other Eikon. Titan will slam his fist down onto the ground and will also use a stomp attack as well. Due to his sheer size, these attacks have a long wind-up time. Look for the tells of each attack and dodge them.

Periodically, Titan will cast Voice of the Land. This unleashes a burst of crystals from the ground. When Titan falls below 50% health, he will jump backward and throw a series of boulders at players. Keep dodging until a cutscene is triggered. At this point, players learn a new ability called Brimstone. In order to use this ability hold and release "R2" and "Square". The longer these buttons are held, the larger the explosion triggered by Brimstone. Use this new ability to block the large boulder thrown by Titan. Brimstone does have a cooldown, so players should use it sparingly.

Once Titan falls below 10% health, a Cinematic Evasion sequence followed by a Cinematic Clash will occur. While it may seem like the battle is over, that is not the case. The fight against Titan has only just begun. Once the cutscene is over, Ifrit will automatically run toward Titan. All players have to do is focus on dodging all the attacks being thrown at them.

Continue dodging and eventually players will end up on one of Titan's many arms. Continue to dodge attacks like before. Players can use the "Square" button to shoot projectile attacks that destroy incoming boulders. Dodge crystals that appear on the arm as well. Be ready for another Cinematic Evasion, as it will trigger soon as Ifrit runs along the arms.

Shortly after this, the boss fight will continue and players will have full control over Ifrit again. Attack Titan's arm and dodge the moving crystals. Look for glowing parts of the arena and move out of them to avoid taking damage. Be ready to dodge a barrage of boulders when Titan pulls his arm back. Keep attacking Titan until his Will Gauge is fully depleted. Shortly after Titan recovers, another cutscene will trigger that includes a Cinematic Evasion. From here, the fight will continue as normal.

When Titan casts Granite Rain, look for dark circles with cracks of energy. These indicate where a boulder is going to land. Don't stand in these spots. Stagger Titan again and the fight will continue after yet another Cinematic Evasion. Repeat this process again and after several Cinematic Clashes, Titan will lose his other arm.

As Ifrit falls to the ground to prepare a final blow, use the ranged attack to destroy incoming boulders. When another arm comes up, shoot it repeatedly until it is destroyed. Another Cinematic Clash will occur and then players will resume fighting the smaller version of Titan. Dodge his attacks and stay on the offensive when possible. When Titan falls below 10% health, another set of Cinematic Evasions and Clashes will conclude the fight and bring the current main scenario quest to a close.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now on PlayStation 5.
