Even after destroying another Mothercrystal in the previous main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16, Clive and his allies do not get much time to rest. Soon after returning to the Hideaway, they discover that Hugo Kupka and his forces are attacking Rosalith. Of course, they aren't interested in conquering Rosalith and are there instead to draw out Clive as part of a trap.

As Clive arrives in Rosalith in "Capital Punishment", Final Fantasy 16 players should prepare for a very action packed quest with several intense boss fights. Here is what players can expect to encounter as they begin this next main scenario quest.

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Go to Rosalith Castle

Follow the street up toward the right to trigger a cutscene. The way forward is blocked, so turn right and go through the gate. Kill the enemies looting the city and then climb up the nearby ladder. Walk along the wall and then drop down to reach another part of the street that was blocked off.

Kill the group of enemies in this area and then crawl under the rubble to reach a flight of stairs. At the top of the stairs is a larger group of enemies. Keep an eye out for when an enemy casts Protect and use magic instead of physical attacks to damage them. Go through the narrow space between all the crates and fight the next group of enemies on the other side.

Go left and climb up the ladder. Turn left and loot the chest before going up the stairs. Follow this path to reach another gate and go through it. Go up the stairs and climb up the wall on the right to get past the barricade blocking another flight of stairs that lead to the entrance of Rosalith Castle. Don't forget to loot the chest to the left of the castle gate. The gate to Rosalith Castle has been left wide open. But the courtyard within is well guarded by a large group of enemies. Once the weaker enemies have been cleared out a boss fight will begin.

How to Beat the Coeurl

In addition to being able to do attacks like swiping with its claws and leaping at players, this boss will also use its long whip like tendrils to attack Final Fantasy 16 players as well. This boss also uses lightning-based attacks as well, so be ready to dodge them while staying on the offensive. Just above 50% the boss will begin to charge an attack. Deplete the purple bar quickly to stagger it and then deal as much damage as possible. Periodically the boss will conjure lines of electricity, move out of these lines to avoid taking damage. Keep attacking the boss and it will eventually fall.

Rescue Jill

After the cutscenes are over, leave the jail cell and take a right to go up some stairs that lead outside. Go right toward the partially open door to trigger a cutscene followed by a battle against a group of enemies. After the first group is wiped out, another group will emerge. The usual tactics of dodging and staggering will work wonders on the reinforcements. Once the enemies are dead, head toward the throne room. Make sure to be fully healed up and ready before going inside.

How to Beat Hugo

After a cutscene plays out, Final Fantasy 16 players will find themselves facing off against Hugo. Being Titan's Dominant, Hugo primarily focuses on getting close and doing massive amounts of damage with his fists. The best way to avoid getting hit is to try and get behind him, but Hugo will try to outmaneuver players when they attempt this. This does make it harder for him to hit players though, but be mindful of positioning as trying to dodge into a corner can make it much easier for Hugo to land hits.

Around 75% health, a Cinematic Evasion sequence will trigger and players will fall down into a new arena. At this point, phase two will begin. Hugo will rely less on melee attacks and instead start using earth-based magic. When a large yellow circle appears, quickly move out of it to avoid taking damage. This also works when Hugo casts Weight of the Land which creates a series of smaller circles around the arena. Landslide creates a line in front of Hugo. Get out of this line to avoid getting hit. When Hugo casts Stripmine, move out of the glowing part of the arena.

After falling below 50% health, Hugo will begin casting Torment which unleashes a barrage of attacks. It is easier to focus on dodging this attack and waiting for it to end before going back on the offensive. Near the end of the fight, Hugo casts Earthen Fist which creates two giant arms that strike in the direction he's facing. Move behind him to avoid this attack. Keep dodging his attacks, and it won't be long before he is defeated. While players may be expecting an Eikon battle next, that doesn't happen this time. After the cutscenes are over, fast travel to the Hideaway to begin the next main scenario quest.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now on PlayStation 5.
